단독주택지 담장허물기 사업 후 물리적 변화요소가 자연적 감시와 범죄불안감에 미치는 영향 분석

Abstract

본 연구는 ‘담장허물기 사업’을 시행한 단독주택지에서 담장이 허물어짐으로 인한 물리적 요소의 변화로 발생하는 사람들의 가시성 차이가 자연적 감시 및 주민 범죄불안감 감소에 어떠한 영향을 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 하는 데 목적을 두었다. 이를 위해 서울시 ‘담장허물기 사업’ 구역 중 대표적 대상지로 홍은3동을 선정하여 단독주택지의 물리적 요소를 분석하였다. 분석 결과 첫째, 담장허물기 사업을 실시한 주택의 물리적 요소의 변화는 사업전과 비교해 주민이 느끼는 범죄불안감 감소에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 주민이 느끼는 자연적 감시의 증가는 범죄불안감을 감소시키는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 물리적 요소와 범죄불안감 감소의 영향관계에서 자연적 감시는 매개효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 단독주택지에서 ‘범죄예방환경설계(CPTED)’의 일환으로 ‘담장허물기 사업’의 효과를 알아볼 수 있었으며, 이는 향후 범죄로부터 안전한 단독주택지를 구성하는 물리적 환경 설계를 하는 데 있어 시사점이 될 수 있을 것이다.This research aims to examine how the differences in visibility that occurred from the physical changes of tearing down walls around detached houses that have implemented the ‘Wall Removal Project’ influenced natural surveillance and the reduction of the locals’ fear of crime. In order to do this, we have selected Hongeun 3-dong as the example area out of all districts that have implemented the ‘Wall Removal Project’, and analyzed the physical aspects of detached houses. As a result, we have first confirmed that the changes in physical aspects houses that have implemented the ?Wall Removal Project? has reduced the locals’ fear of crime compared to before the project was executed. Secondly, the increase in natural surveillance that was recognized by the locals reduced the fear of crime. Thirdly, in the influential relationship between physical aspects and the reduction of fear of crime, natural surveillance had a mediating effect. Based on these results, we could confirm the effects of the ‘Wall Removal Project’, which is a part of the ‘CPTED’, among detached houses, and this will become an implication for future physical environmental designing that structures detached houses safe from crimes.
