가임기 기혼여성의 노동시장 참여 형태가 출산이행에 미치는 영향

Abstract

본 연구는 초저출산현상이 지속되고 있는 2001년 이후 여성의 노동시장 참여가 출산에 미치는 영향을 검증하고자 하였으며, 또한 이러한 효과가 모든 노동시장 참가 형태 (직종-종사상지위 유형별)에서 공통적으로 나타날 것인가에 대해 분석하고자 하였다. 한국복지패널자료 자료 중 8차패널을 활용하여 출산이 있기 전년도 기혼여성의 노동시장참여형태가 출산 이행에 미치는 영향을 분석하기 위하여 로지스틱 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 여성의 노동시장참여는 첫째아 출산이행에 부적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 노동시장 참여 형태 중에서는 사무직종 상용근로와 서비스ㆍ판매직종 임시ㆍ일용근로인 경우에 이러한 효과가 나타났다. 둘째, 둘째아 출산 이행에서도 여성의 노동시장참여의 부정적 효과가 나타나고 있었다. 이러한 효과는 사무직종 상용근로자에게서만 나타났다. 이들 결과를 종합하면 첫째아 출산부터 노동시장참여여부가 통계적으로 유의미한 부정적 영향을 미치고 있으며, 이러한 영향은 특히 사무직종 상용근로자인 여성에게서 지속적으로 나타나고 있다. 향후 취업여성의 노동시장 참여 특성을 세밀화하여 지속적으로 살펴보는 것이 필요할 것이다. The purpose of this study is to analyze the impact of women`s labor force participation on fertility. The data for this analysis come from 2013(8th) Korea Welfare Panel Study by Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs. The main results were as follows; Firstly, the labor force participation had a negative impact on giving the first birth with statistical significance. In particular, regular clerks and non-regular service and sales workers appeared to be less likely to give their first birth. Secondly, the women in labor force appeared to be more likely to postpone or give up the their second birth. Such a negative impact appeared to be rather significantly for the regular clerks. It may be due to the tendency that their opportunity cost for giving their second birth is higher than those in other patterns of labor force participation.
