Early intake valve closing was purposed to reduce pumping lose in a gasoline directinjection engine. Reduced turbulence intensity was supplemented by injecting fuel. To compare effects of applying early intake valve closing, throttling case was alsoinvestigated. Early intake valve closing induces high turbulence kinetic energy. However, throttling case has higher turbulence kinetic energy than throttling case at TDC. Late injection intensifies turbulence intensity in both case while it reduces fuel-air mixture homogeneity.en_US
