신(新)문화사 관점에서 바라본한국관광사(韓國觀光史)연구의 동향과 과제

Abstract

관광사는 관광학 연구의 지평을 넓히고 학문적 깊이를 더할 수 있다는 점에서 중요한 연구 분야임에도 불구하고, 국내의 관광사 연구는 연구내용과 방법론적 측면에서 그 성과가 미미한 것이 현실이다. 본 연구는 학제간 접근의 관점에서 관광사 연구의 동향을 분석하고 향후 관광사 연구에 접근하기 위한 역사적 방법론을 모색하였다. 이를 위하여 역사학과 관광학 연구의 접점에 있는 신문화사 연구의 관점을 적용하였다. 역사학계의 신문화사 연구의 등장배경, 연구의 흐름, 접근법을 제시하고, 국내 역사학계에서 진행된 관광사 연구의 성과를 소개하였다. 또한 현재까지 관광학연구에 게재된 관광사 연구의 동향과 성과를 분석․정리하고, 역사학계와 관광학계의 연구성과와 접근법을 비교․분석하고, 차이를 규명하였다. 마지막으로, 신문화사적 관점을 적용하여 관광사 연구의 이론의 적용, 연구자료, 연구방법 등의 측면에서 과제와 향후 방향을 제안하였다. 본 연구는 관광 현상에 대한 이해의 폭을 넓히고, 통시적 고찰을 통해 관광학의 학문적 깊이를 더하는 것이 관광사 연구의 학술적 기여라는 신념을 기초로 향후 관광사 연구의 진척을 위한 학제간 연구의 가능성을 논의하였다.The history of tourism is important not only in its own right, but also as a contributor to wider and deeper studies in tourism. This paper offers an interdisciplinary perspective of tourism history research, and explores some of the methodological approaches surrounding tourism history. It is a carefully crafted study: a 'new cultural history', as the subtitle proclaims, seeking to improve tourism research through history. The emergence of a new cultural history that began in the Annales approach are introduced. The Annales approaches attempt a fuller more whole and complex way to viewing history and of dissolving boundaries between disciplines. The movement has continued to grow and expand, and carried on a new cultural history. This paper examines the contribution of a new cultural history to the understanding of tourism. The paper is organized as follows. First, current research trends and performance of tourism history studies are analyzed and summarized. Trends that took place in the history of academia and tourism then presented, and the difference of the approach is investigated. The paper concludes with the current state of emergent tourism history, research in the field, and suggestions for future research in the context of the new cultural history.
