Abstract
Half a century had passed since a university took root in Korea, many new majors(or departments) were created, and these changes are still continuing even now. One of the representative majors is ‘interior design’, Interior design is established as a specialized subject and it is producing many majors, but more discussions are required for qualitative development of educational contents. In particular, as a voice that accreditation on educational contents of interior design must be achieved is rising, it is judged that discussions about interior design accreditation are necessary. Hereupon, this study will practice the following steps to find a desirable direction of interior design accreditation of Korea. First, research about the guideline about an assessment basis of 2011 education curriculum that CIDA (Council for Interior Design Accreditation), the US institution for interior design accreditation, suggests. Second, look into discussion (agreement and opposition) contents of interior design experts on attaching the CIDA evaluation basis guideline to a curriculum which was discussed at the recent IDEA conference. It is expected that this study will be used as a reference data through this when setting a direction for a desirable accreditation plan of the domestic interior design education in future.
