아동의 효과적인 사진표현전략 지도를 위한 사진표현발달의 특성 이해 - 유치원 아동을 중심으로 -

Abstract

본 논문은 디지털시대로 명명되고 있는 21세기 대표적인 표현미디엄으로 중요한 의미와 기능을 가지고 있는 사진매체를 아동에게 지도하기 위해 아동의 사진표현의 특성을 심층적으로 이해하는 것이 선행되어야 한다는 문제의식을 가지고 실행한 질적 연구이다. 다양한 연령대 아동의 사진표현특성들을 이해하기 위한 장기 연구프로젝트의 첫 단계로, 본 연구는 우선 학령 전 유치원 아동을 대상으로 아동들의 다양한 '선행 사진 찍기 경험'을 탐구하고, 그들의 실제 사진촬영 중에 나타난 사진 표현의 특성들을 분석하였다. 연구의 결과는 유치원 아동들이 '사진 찍기'의 의미를 다르게 이해하고 있으며, 의도를 반영한 대상들을 표현하기 보다는 즉각적 대상을 찍는데 급급하다보니 대상탐색에 소극적이며 촬영시간도 상대적으로 짧아 많은 사진은 찍고 있지만, 찍은 사진이미지의 의미와 질도 그리 높지 않음이 발견되었다. 또한 많은 사진표현기능들 중에서 아동들이 요구하는 기능은 촬영대상과 사진기와의 거리조절이었다는 것도 알수 있었다. 또한 아동들이 사용하고 있는 각기 다른 사진 촬영 자세들의 이해는 효과적인 촬영자세의 지도 역시 이 시기 아동들에게 매우 중요하다는 것을 보여주었다. 효과적인 촬영자세의 습득은 촬영대상의 탐색을 적극적으로 할 수 있도록 도울 뿐만 아니라 촬영시간도 효율적으로 사용할 수 있게 하여 결과물로서 사진이미지의 질 향상에 큰 영향을 줄 수 있기 때문이다. 본 연구를 통해 발견된 유치원 아동들의 사진표현 특성들은 사진교육을 실시하고자 할 때, 미술교육자들로 하여금 어떤 지도상의 유의점이 필요한 지 알 수 있게 해 줄 뿐만 아니라 유치원 아동들이 찍은 사진 이미지들을 이해하는 데 큰 도움을 줄 것이다.For recent years. educational interests in digital photography as a new art medium has been increased a lot since the 21 century which is known as an age of digital technology began. Therefore. many art educators developed diverse art lessons using a digital photography. However, although theoretical foundation about developmental. psychological and socio-cultural characteristics of children's photo-making should be prepared for teaching photography to children in order to prepare appropriate photography lessons. this has not been attempted actively. Therefore, the purpose of this study is designed to explore kindergarden children's artistic experience related to photo-making and characteristics of their photo-making. In this study as the first step of a long-term research project to explore and attempt to understand characteristics of photo-making by diverse age groups of children. a process of 9 kindergarten children's photo-making were observed intensively and expressive strategies for and characteristics of their photo-making were analyzed in-depth as a qualitative research. The results of this study raise some educational issues for teaching photography for kindergarteners: (1) children's misunderstanding of meaning of 'taking a picture' and its influence on children's photo-making, (2) types of photo-making skills required by kindergarten children, (3) mastering and understanding an effective position for taking a picture and its influence on their exploring objects for photo-making and quality of photos they made, etc. Findings in this study will provide an important and useful information to educators who plan to teach children photography and shows more studies on characteristics of children's photo-making should be attempted continuously.
