수학교과와 융복합교육: 담론과 과제

Abstract

최근 들어, 한국학교교육의 개선을 위한 방안의 탐색이 이루어지면서 융복합교육이 새로운 교육 모델로 제기되고 있다. 융복합교육이 대안적인 교육 모델로 제기되는 바탕에는 국가경쟁력의 유지 발전에 지식 융합 역량이 기여하는 바에 대한 기대감, 융합 학문 및 산업의 발전에 따라 변화하는 대학교육에 대응하여 초중등교육이 변화해야할 필요성, 지식기반사회에서 요구되는 기본 역량으로서 창의적 지식 창출 능력을 함양해야 할 필요성 등 다양한 입장이 존재한다. 이에 대하여 본 연구에서는 융합현상의 인식론적 규범에 대한 고려에 기초하여 실존적 존재로서 학생의 전인적 성장을 촉진할 수 있는 학습 환경을 제공함으로써 교육의 인본화를 실현하는 것이 융복합교육이 지향해야할 핵심적 과제임을 주장하였다. 이러한 관점에서 국내외 융복합교육 프로그램 사례를 검토함으로써 융복합교육이 학교수학교육을 개선하는데 기여할 수 있는 방법론을 탐색하고 그 실천에서 고려해야할 사항을 논하였다.Recently, the Korean government develops a variety of policies for the improvement of school education. Among the policies, convergence education is considered as essential. Moreover, as the policies declare that mathematics is expected to play a central role in the convergence education, mathematics educators are required to seek for ways of how to approach convergence education in mathematics. In this context, this paper reviewed diverse viewpoints on what kind of contribution convergence education make to the improvement of school mathematics. While the argument constructed around the issue of national competitiveness is the most prevalent in the political discourse, this paper recommends to introduce the epistemological norms raised by the knowledge integration through history. In addition, this paper presents both domestic and international programs to discuss how to develop educational program for convergence education in mathematics.
