재가 노인의 우울 예측 요인

Abstract

평균 수명의 연장과 노인인구 증가로 노인에 대한 사회적 관심이 높아지고 있으며 인구의 노령화로 인한 다양한 문제는 우리사회가 당면한 과제이다. 특히 우리나라는 2010년 65세 이상 노인인구는 총 인구의 11.0%로 고령화 사회에 돌입했 고, 앞으로도 노인인구는 계속 증가하여 2018년에 고령사회 기준인 14%, 2026년에는 초고령화 사회 기준인 20%를 넘게 될 것으로 예상되고 있다(Statistics Korea, 2010). 이렇게 노 인인구 증가에 따라 노후의 질적인 삶을 영위하기 위해 건강 에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있는데, 노인에서의 건강상태는 신 체적, 기능적 및 심리적 요소들이 서로 균형을 이룰 때 유지되 므로 이들 세 요소는 중요한 건강변수라고 볼 수 있다(Park, Lee, Oh, Lee, & Cho, 2002). Purpose: This descriptive research was done to identify the predictors influencing depression in community dwelling older adults. Method: The participants were 355 elders aged or over 65 and the data were collected using structured questionnaires which included general characteristics, hand strength, experience of falling, perceived health status and depression. Data analysis included descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple regression using enter method with the SPSS Statistics 18.0 for Windows program. Results: Mean age of the participants was 74.82±6.09 and the majority were women (65.9%). Mean scores for hand strength were 29.76±5.71 kg for men, 18.55±4.06 kg for women, for perceived health status, 2.97±1.02 and for depression, 3.94±3.80. Percentage of falls over the past year was 31.5%. Gender(β=-.32, p<.001), perceived health status(β=.29, p<.001), level of education(β=.19, p=.001), hand strength(β=-.19, p=.022), experience of falling(β=.18, p<.001), and marital status(β=-.17, p=.001) were factors influencing depression in community dwelling older adults. Together they explained 26.8% of the variance. Conclusion: Findings of this study suggest that integrated interventions to prevent depression in community dwelling elders are need.
