Abstract
The forces of urban regeneration are changing the major cities in the world including London, Paris, and Seoul. In this regard, it is important for policy makers to acquire detailed information on he assessments regarding planning elements of waterfront-oriented urban regeneration projects. This study starts with generating six different planning elements(urban regeneration, urban design, public space, urban marketing, pedestrian and transport accessibility) Urban regeneration projects of Three major cities(London, Paris, Seoul) were assessed according to three planning elements. Eighteen urban professionals were interviewed in order to derive rankings for planning elements in the context of Waterfront-oriented projects. The study revealed that high-ranked planning elements vary according to regeneration projects of three major cities. What is lacking is waterfront area of London and Paris is the open spaces such as parks whereas major parks and provided waterfront area in seoul. A place identity is well preserved in Paris and London while historical assets along the Han River are not adequately reflected in waterfront projects in Seoul.
