역사리텔링(hystory-retelling)과 상흔(trauma)의 치유 : 구술사 활용을 중심으로

Abstract

이 연구의 목적은 역사리텔링이 개인과 집단의 트라우마 치유를 도울 수 있음을 보이는 것이다. 이를 위해 여기서는 구술사와 역사리텔링 그리고 트라우마 치유의 상호 관련성 속에서 개인과 집단의 치유, 치유의 방법 그리고 치유의 목적 등을 밝혀볼 것이다. 역사리텔링은 성찰적 자기인식을 통해 개인과 집단의 왜곡된 역사(기억)를 바로잡고, 이를 통해 개인 삶의 복원과 사회적 건강성의 확보를 돕는 역사치유의 한 방식이다. 역사리텔링은 과거의 기억이나 역사를 단순히 창작하거나 가공한다는 의미가 아니라 왜곡된 기억이나 역사를 수정하거나 교정한다는 의미를 갖으며, 더불어 상호작용적 소통 방식을 통해 개인 삶과 사회의 미래지향적 설계를 도모한다는 의미를 담고 있다. 따라서 구술사를 활용한 역사리텔링은 개인은 물론이고 집단의 트라우마 해소에도 기여할 수 있고, 트라우마의 당사자가 치유의 대상이 아니라 주체가 된다는 점에서 기존의 다양한 치유 방법론과는 차이가 있다. 우리가 고통스런 역사적 기억의 희생자들을 진실로 기억하고, 치유를 돕고자 한다면, 무엇보다 공감적 소통에 기초한 연대와 정의의 사회적 공감대가 필요하다. 치유를 돕는 것은 상업적 이익을 얻기 위한 사업이 아니라 ``지금, 여기``를 함께하는 우리 모두가 나누어야 할 의무이자, 정의로운 인간성의 구현이기 때문이다.The purpose of this research is to show that history-retelling could help the healing of trauma in individuals and groups of people. To achieve this, subject of healing, method of healing, and purpose of healing will be defined under the interaction between oral history and history-retelling. History-retelling is a method of healing of history that allows a person or a group of people to straighten the distorted history (or memory) through introspective self-recognition and, further, to help restore life and retain societal health. History-retelling through oral history is a different method of healing than the previous methods, in that it helps individuals as well as groups of people in alleviating trauma, and the person with trauma becomes the main agent of healing and not the subject. If we want to truly remember the victims of painful historical memories and help their healing, a social consensus between the era and justice must be formed with the basis of sympathetic communication. That is because healing is our shared obligation and the realization of justice and humanity.
