견고하고 역동적인 생명 의지 -황순원의 시-

Abstract

황순원의 초기 시작은 순수한 동심 지향의 속성을 잘 보여준다. 황순원의 시작(詩作) 활동은, 비록 황순원 문학의 본령이 단편소설에 있다 할지라도, 그의 문학적 생애 갈피갈피마다 시가 그것을 지탱해준 어떤 수원(水源)이자 기초였음을 알려준다. 그래서 황순원 문학에서 ‘시’의 존재론은, 그의 문학을 이룬 커다란 밑그림이자, 순간순간 찾아온, 매우 지속적이고 눈부셨던 섬광(閃光) 같은 것이었다고 할 수 있다. 먼저 그의 시세계는 견고한 생명 의지의 알레고리로 나타난다. 황순원 초기 시편에 드러나는 주제 가운데 가장 강렬하고 지속적인 것은, 순수 원형에 대한 강렬한 희원에 있다. 또한 어떤 원형(archetype)으로서의 생명에 대한 지극한 관심과 추구에 있다. 이러한 황순원의 견고한 생명 의지는, 그 상황적 토대를 민족적 울분으로 옮겨감으로써, 목소리의 외연을 넓혀가게 된다. 이러한 면모를 그는 알레고리의 형상으로 그려낸다. 이렇듯 황순원의 식민지 시대 시편들은, 견고한 생명 의지의 알레고리를 지속적으로 보여주었다. 그 저변에는 강력한 민족 의식이 생명 추구의 에너지를 감싸고 있었다고 할 수 있다. 그 다음으로 그의 시세계에서 두드러진 영역은, 자기 기원(起源)의 상상과 생의 기억에 있다. 해방 후의 작품이 이에 해당한다. 거기에는 달라진 세계에 처해있는 화자의 기쁨과 달관이 깊이 배어 있다. 해방 후 소설에 전념한 황순원은 삶의 갈피갈피마다 인생론적 사색과 초월을 노래한 시편들을 발표하였는데, 이때 자기 기원으로 거슬러 오르려는 에너지와 이제는 그것마저 불가능하게 된 존재론적 상황에 대한 처연한 슬픔을 동시에 보여준다. 결국 시는 황순원 문학의 어떤 원형으로 자리잡고 있다. 그 점에서 황순원의 시작 활동은, 비록 지속성과 균질성을 가지고 있다 하더라도, 그의 탁월한 서사를 감싸고 있는 문학적 원형질로 해석되어야 할 것이다.Early poems of Hwang Sunwon quite well showed properties of directivity for pure innocence of childhood. Also it lay in dire interest and pursuit on life as a certain archetype. This strong life will of Hwang Sunwon extended voice’s denotation through he transferred from the substructure in circumstances to ethenic pent-up anger. He described this aspect as the shape of allegory. Likewise, Hwang Sunwon’s poems of the colonial era showed allegory of strong life will continuously. We can say that the powerful racial consciousness surrounded energy of life pursuit in the base. Second, the marked parts of his poetic world were imagine of origin and memories of life. Which were poems after liberation. In these works, his delight and a far-sighted view were deeply tinged in changed world.
