太平廣記의 국내 유입과 그 영향 - 遊仙詩를 중심으로 -

Abstract

『太平廣記』가 담고 있는 방대한 설화는 국내 지식인들에게도 지적 흥미를 불러 일으켰다. 『태평광기』는 견문을 넓히는 通儒의 차원에서 적극적으로 수용되었다. 특히 『태평광기』는 언해까지 이루어짐으로써 識者層은 물론 일반 서민과 부녀자 계층까지 독자층의 확대를 이룰 수 있었다. 『태평광기』는 국내의 소설문학에 새로운 창작의 소재와 기법을 제공함으로서 한국 고전소설의 발달에 중요한 역할을 했다. 그런데 『태평광기』가 한시에도 영향을 광범위하게 준 것으로 보인다. 많은 한시 작자들은 『태평광기』에 등장하는 인물이나 사건을 관습적으로 활용하고 있었다. 한시 작가들은 作詩 과정에서 『태평광기』의 전고를 적극 끌어들였다. 특히 유선 작가들의 경우, 『태평광기』는 절대적인 영향력을 갖고 있었다. 이들은 작품의 일부, 혹은 전체에서 『태평광기』의 고사를 차용하였다. 『태평광기』의 고사를 독후감 형식으로 창작하기도 했다. 『태평광기』에 수록된 종류 중에서도 특히 맨 앞의 神仙과 女仙을 즐겨 활용했다. 이러한 맥락에서, 허난설헌의 유선시는 『태평광기』와의 연관 속에서 다시 꼼꼼하게 접근될 필요가 있다. 그녀가 사용하는 시어나 전고의 배경을 온전히 이해하게 된다면 난설헌 유선시를 한층 정확하게 감상할 수 있게 될 것이다. 특히 이단서의 성격을 띤 『태평광기』가 유학자들에게도 두루 읽힌 배경은 『태평광기』를 通儒의 차원에서 이해한 데 있다. 『태평광기』가 수록한, 이른바 ``소설의 바다``로 불릴 만한 방대하고 다양한 설화는 유학자들의 견문을 넓히고 博學을 갖추는 데 도움을 주었다. 『태평광기』가 담고 있는 인과응보의 주제의식, 기이하고 흥미로운 이야기도 유학자들에게 매력적인 요소였다. 특히 神仙류는 갑갑한 현실에서 벗어나 마음껏 비상하고픈 독자들에게 대리 만족을 주었다. 그리하여 작가들은 신선 세계를 이야기함으로써, 고달픈 현실을 위로받고 현실의 구속에서 벗어나 마음껏 飛上하는 꿈을 꾸었다. 『태평광기』는 제도와 질서에 길들여져 있던 사람들에게 자유로움의 가치를 일깨워 주고 꿈꾸기를 가능하게 했다. 『Taip`ingkuangchi(太平廣記)』, which contains an extensive narrative aroused intellectual interest to domestic intellectuals. 『Taip`ingkuangchi』 was accepted positively in terms of broadening the knowledge. In particular, 『Taip`ing-kuangchi』 had translation, so it could achieve as well as the expansion of the common people and to women readership hierarchy. 『Taip`ingkuangchi』 had played an important role in the development of Korea by offering the classic novel materials and new techniques of creative fiction literature in the country. But 『Taip`ingkuangchi』 was likely to affect a wide range of Korean Chinese poetry. Many poetry authors were taking advantage of a person or event featured in the 『Taip`ingkuangchi』 as customary. Poets were strongly attracted the height of the 『Taip`ingkuangchi』 in wriying poetry process. Especially the author of Yusun literature had an enormous influence of 『Taip`ingkuangchi』. They used 『Taip`ingkuangchi』`s words in the part of the work or full. They also wrote created the book report format. Among 『Taip`ingkuangchi』, they used the hermits and women hermits of 『Taip`ingkuangchi』`s front. In this context, Heo Nanseolheon(許蘭雪軒)`s Yusun poetry needs to be approached carefully again in association with 『Taip`ingkuangchi』. If we understand fully the background of poetry, we will be able to feel more accurately nanseolheon`s Yusun poetry. In particular, the background of reading 『Taip`ingkuangchi』 - which was regarded as heresy - was understood as well knowledgeable persons, Tongyu(通儒). 『Taip`ingkuangchi』 that was recorded as novel of the sea, has vast and diverse narratives, so it might help to equip the erudition and to broaden the knowledge of Confucian scholars. 『Taip`ingkuangchi』 has the theme of retribution, contains strange and interesting stories were attractive factors for a Confucian scholars. Especially hermit stories gave a surrogate satisfaction for the reader who wanted to escape from the cramped reality. So artists dreamed to fly freely away from the reality of redemption through writing hermit`s wold. 『Taip`ingkuangchi』 helped people who were accustomed to the system and order to remind the value of freedom and to be able to dream.
