상호작용 스트레스 이론을 적용한 날씨와 아웃도어 레크리에이션 참여자 행동의 관계분석 : 캠핑참여자의 심층면접을 중심으로

Abstract

본 연구는 기존의 선행연구가 날씨 및 기후가 관광객 또는 아웃도어 레크리에이션 참여자의 의사결정 및 행동, 만족도에 영향을 미치는 매우 핵심적인 요인이라고 주장함에도 불구하고 구체적으로 날씨가 참여자에게 어떠한 영향을 미치는지에 대해서는 체계적으로 파악하려는 노력이 부족했다는 인식에서 출발하였다. 본 연구는 상호작용 관점의 스트레스 이론을 적용하여 아웃도어 레크리에이션 참여자의 날씨스트레스와 대처행동을 파악하고자 하였다. 아웃도어 레크리에이션 활동 중 날씨와 관련된 경험적 사례를 수집하기 위하여 총 17인의 캠핑참여자를 대상으로 심층면접을 시행하였다. 분석결과, 첫째, 국내 캠핑참여자들이 날씨로 인해 경험하고 있는 스트레스는 기존 상호작용 스트레스 이론에서 제시하고 있는 1차 평가 및 2차 평가의 개념으로 확인되었다. 아울러 본 연구에서는 기존 연구에서 제시하고 있는 자기자원평가와 타인자원평가 외에도 ‘시설자원평가’라는 새로운 요인이 발견되어 2차 평가의 구성요인을 확장하였다. 특히 이 요인은 캠핑장 시설 및 자원관리자의 입장에서 향후 빈번하게 발생하는 이상기후 및 악천후의 상황에서 캠핑참여자의 스트레스를 줄여줄 수 있다는 점에서 중요한 것으로 파악된다. 또한 본 연구결과는 아웃도어 레크리에이션 참여자들이 날씨로 인해 다양한 대처 메커니즘을 적용한다고 제시한 선행연구의 주장을 확인하였다. 본 연구에서 날씨조건은 적어도 좋지 않은 상황일 때 개개인의 상황과 평가에 따라 그 영향력이 매우 상이하게 나타날 수 있다는 점이 발견되었으므로, 향후 연구들은 날씨에 대한 개개인의 평가와 차이점을 연구하는데 초점을 두어야 할 것이다. This study started from the problem that although researches on consumers’ response to weather in the outdoor recreation settings are important due to recent climate changes, there are few related theoretical approaches. So, the purpose of this study was to figure out relationship between weather and outdoor recreation participants’ behavior by applying the stress theory from the transactional perspective. Specifically, this study was to specify the relationship between weather stress appraisal and coping behaviors. Data for this study was collected through in depth interviews, and total 17 participants are interviewed. The result is as follows. First, the stress camping participants experience due to the bad weather was confirmed as primary and secondary appraisal concept of the transactional stress theory. Second, as a result of in-depth interview, ‘facility resource appraisal’ reflecting the characteristics of outdoor recreation and weather was found in a secondary appraisal. Third, this research confirmed the claims of the previous studies have suggested that outdoor recreation participants to apply various coping mechanisms due to the stressful weather. In this study, the weather can be evaluated very different depending on the individual circumstances at least when the weather is bad situation . Therefore, future research should focus on the differences between the individuals of the evaluation of the weather.
