- Abstract
- This study was to examine the effects of anger expression modes of mother and ego-resilience of child on child’s psychological well-beings. Participants were 243 elementary students(4th to 6th graders) and their mothers who reside in Kyunggi province. Participants were asked to complete a questionnaire which consisted of items from the STAXI-K(State-Trait Anger Expression Inventory-Korean version) developed by Spielberger(1997), the ego-resilience scale developed by Block and Kremen(1996), and the psychological well-being scale developed by Ryff(1989). It was shown that maternal anger-in and anger-out, which are different modes of anger expression, were correlated negatively with aspects of child’s psychological well-beings. The study also found that ego-resilience of child has significant positive correlations with every aspect of child psychological well-beings (positive interpersonal relationships, controllability over environment, goals for life, and self-acceptance). Given the results, it can be concluded that dysfunctional anger expression modes of mother are likely to influence to decrease and child’s ego-resilience seems to contribute to improvement of child’s psychological well-beings.
