Abstract
To overcome unfavorable sweep efficiency of CO2 flooding in heavy oil reservoir, an integrated gel treatment with CO2 WAG flooding has been regarded as one of the possible technical suggestions. However, the effects of flowing gel viscosity have not been studied much in previous studies. This paper covers a quantitative simulation study involving hybrid gel treatment with CO2 WAG flood with dynamic gel viscosity in heterogeneous stratified heavy oil reservoir. Due to the mobility and conformance improvement, and oil viscosity reduction, the microgel assisted WAG with dynamic gel viscosity made 31% improvement in recovery factor compared with conventional WAG.
