일상 관광으로 나타난 역공간에 대한 분석

Abstract

Today, the distinction between the everyday life field and tourism field have become ambiguous, moving away from the era of traveling with the aim of deviating from everyday life. As the boundary between everyday life and tourism fields collapse and tourism spreads to the urban space, local residents and tourists meet more often, interact, and jointly produce and consume urban experiences. In order to deeply understand the nature of mutual communications between tourists and residents in the tourism phenomenon where tourism in everyday life develops beyond the dailyzation of tourism, it is necessary to understand the urban space they meet. To this end, a comprehensive approach to everyday life and tourism, tourism space in everyday life as an untypical tourism space and the sense of place of tourism space is needed on the premise of an in-depth understanding of the spatial experiences of tourists in everyday life. This study examined the experience of urban space produced and consumed by residents and tourists who are tourists in everyday life under the concept of liminal space to derive the characteristics of tourism spaces in everyday life that appeared as tourism in everyday life. Seongsu-dong, Seoul's representative urban tourism space visited by many tourists, and this study was conducted on residents living and tourists visiting in the region. This study applied a phenomenological research method to confirm that meaning is formed in space with the experiences of tourists in everyday life. Data were collected, analyzed, and the results were described according to the phenomenological analysis procedure proposed by Colaizzi. As tourists in everyday life in Seongsu-dong, in-depth interview data with nine residents of Seongsu-dong and eight visitors to Seongsu-dong were analyzed, and topics and categories constituting the meaning of the tourism space in everyday life were derived. As a characteristic of the tourism space in everyday life revealed in this study, 109 meaning units for residents and 110 meaning units for tourists were formulated. Through this process, residents were classified into 40 themes, tourists into 43 themes, and both residents and tourists were grouped into 16 theme clusters. Subsequently, five categories were derived to reveal an essential structure, indicating that common spatial resource characteristics, through the spatial enjoyment method of the two subjects, create the meaning of an everyday tourism space as a liminal space. This study is meaningful in deriving the meaning of a liminal space produced by the multi-dimensional differentiation of the meaning of the place as a new function of tourism works in a space that used to function as a urban space in everyday life. Tourism spaces in everyday life are meaningful when the spatial functions of everyday life and tourism coexist. As a new boundary of urban space where various functions are mixed and multidimensional activities occur, and as a liminal space where activities are produced, balanced development for tourism and everyday life is necessary.|일상에서의 일탈을 목표로 여행을 떠나던 시대에서 벗어나, 일상을 여행처럼 영위하고 여행을 일상처럼 떠나는 오늘날, 일상과 관광 영역의 구분은 모호해졌다. 일상과 관광의 영역이 와해가 되어 도시의 일상공간으로 관광이 확산되면서 지역주민과 관광자는 더 자주 만나 상호작용하며 도시 경험을 공동으로 생산하고 소비한다. 관광의 일상화를 넘어 일상의 관광화가 전개되는 관광 현상에서 관광자와 지역주민 간 교류의 본질을 깊이 이해하기 위해서는 그들이 만나는 도시 공간에 대한 이해가 필요하다. 이를 위해서는 일상관광자들의 공간 경험에 대한 심층적인 이해를 전제로 일상과 관광, 비전형적인 관광공간으로서의 일상관광공간, 관광공간의 장소화에 대한 종합적인 접근이 필요하다. 이 연구는 일상 관광으로 나타난 일상관광공간의 특징을 도출하기 위해 역공간이라는 개념으로 일상관광자인 지역주민과 관광자가 생산하고 소비하는 도시 공간의 경험을 살펴보았다. 연구 대상지는 지역주민의 일상이 있는 생활공간이자 많은 관광자가 방문하고 있는 서울의 대표적인 도시관광공간인 성수동으로 선정하였으며, 지역에 살고 있는 주민과 지역을 방문한 관광자를 대상으로 연구를 진행하였다. 이 연구는 일상관광자들의 경험으로 공간에 의미가 형성되어가는 것을 확인하기 위하여 현상학적 연구방법을 적용하였다. Colaizzi의 현상학적 분석 절차에 따라 자료를 수집 및 분석하고 결과를 기술하였다. 성수동의 일상관광자로서 성수동 주민 9명과 성수동 방문객 8명의 연구참여자와의 심층인터뷰 자료를 분석하고, 일상관광공간에 대해 생성된 의미를 구성하는 주제와 범주를 도출하였다. 이 연구에서 밝혀낸 일상관광공간의 특징으로 주민의 경우, 109개, 관광자는 110개의 의미 단위별 중심의미를 규명하였다. 이를 통해 주민은 40개, 관광자는 43개의 주제로 분류하고 다시 주민과 관광자 모두 16개로 주제 묶음을 한 후, 5개의 범주를 도출하여 공통적인 공간 자원 특성이 두 주체의 공간 향유 방식을 통해 역공간으로서 일상관광공간의 의미를 생성한다는 본질적인 구조를 발견하였다. 첫째, 주민과 관광자 모두에게 주목받을 수 있는 일상관광공간의 자원적 특성은 역사문화적 배경을 기반으로 형성된 지역성이 나타난 물리적인 공간과 이러한 공간을 채우는 콘텐츠가 있다. 또한, 지역성을 토대로 이색적인 공간 분위기를 형성하는 리미널한 경관, 공적 공간과 사적 공간이 융합되고 복합적으로 이용될 수 있도록 형성된 경계가 희미해진 공간의 분포 등이 일상관광공간의 자원적인 특성을 이룬다. 둘째, 일상관광공간을 향유하는 특성에 있어서 주민과 관광자의 태도가 공간의 의미를 형성하였다. 일상의 연속선 상에서 일상관광공간을 향유하는 주민과 일상을 떠나 비일상감을 전제로 일상관광공간을 향유하는 관광자의 태도가 영향을 미쳤다. 주민은 일상을 여행처럼 즐기고, 개성이 있는 라이프스타일을 전제로 일상을 영위하면서 비일상적인 경험을 선호하였다. 자신의 일상공간에 대한 애정이 있는 태도가 공간의 일상성과 접목하여 공간의 의미를 생성하였다. 관광자는 여행을 일상처럼 수행하면서도 일상을 벗어난 자유감을 갖는다. 일상적 경험을 선호하면서 비일상적 공간에 대한 호기심이 공간의 비일상성과 만나 방문자의 비일상적인 공간이라는 의미를 만들었다. 셋째, 공동으로 도시 경험을 생산하는 주민과 관광자는 모두 도시 이용자로서 일상의 연속성과 비연속성이라는 특징을 제외하고는 유사한 공간 경험을 생산하였다. 역공간이 내재한 비전형성, 역치성, 관습성, 지역성, 혼재성, 모호성 등의 특징이 일상관광공간으로 발현되면서 공간의 다차원적인 성격과 특별한 로컬리티, 새로움이 생기는 경계, 장소의 지속적인 변화에 대해서는 유사하게 경험한 것이다. 이 연구는 일상적인 도시공간으로서 기능하던 공간에 관광이라는 새로운 기능이 복합적으로 작동하게 되면서 장소의 의미가 보다 다차원적으로 분화되어 생산된 역공간으로서의 의미를 일상관광자인 주민과 관광자 두 주체의 공간 경험으로 도출한 데 의의가 있다. 일상관광공간은 일상과 관광의 공간적 기능이 공존할 때 의미가 생긴다. 다양한 기능이 혼재하고 다차원적인 활동이 일어나며 새로움이 생겨나는 도시공간의 새로운 경계이자, 활동이 생산되는 역공간으로서 일상관광공간이 활성화되기 위해서는 관광과 일상을 위한 균형적인 발전이 필요하다는 시사점을 도출할 수 있다.
