- Solve the 3D bin packing problem using DRL method Sukjun Lee Dept. of Electrical Engineering The Graduate School Hanyang University The logistics industry is rapidly evolving. Efficient operations in logistics are cru- cial, and the 3D Bin Packing Problem (BPP) offers a solution. Achieving optimal space utilization and fast operations is essential. Optimal space utilization remains a challenge with the existing pack-only 3D BPP solutions. In this paper, we propose that optimal space utilization can be achieved with minimal additional operations through our Holing from Evaluating Network (HEN), designed to enable holding ac- tions. The HEN, a single network reducing computational demands, is suitable for industrial systems. Additionally, we propose a new state representation to achieve faster learning speed and provide a heuristic method as a guideline for action selec- tion, resulting in higher loading performance of the model.
