- Abstract
- The purpose of this study was to investigates the effects of different types of exercise on the mental health of international students in the case of novel corona virus(COVID-19). In this study, the subjects were divided into aerobic exercise group, resistance movement group and non-exercise group according to their exercise condition through questionnaires for a period of 16 weeks of survey tracking, and data collection was carried out three times during the survey period (initial data, after 8 weeks of exercise, after 16 weeks of exercise), and the data results were processed by SPSS and then analyzed using LSD (Least Significant Difference) for multiple comparison analysis. This study showed that exercise can improve the mental health of Chinese international students and eliminate negative emotional reactions and psychological problems. Among them, aerobic exercise has a faster improvement effect on international students' anxiety and depression, and the effect of resistance movement intervention on Chinese international students' mental health is slower, and more obvious effect can be seen when the exercise intervention time is longer. Thus, the results of this study provide a statistical basis for anxiety and depression related interventions for college students, as well as evidence that international students' anxiety and depression responses can be altered in a relatively predictable manner by different types of exercise, and suggestions for further research. Implications for interventions to address the mental health issues associated with the COVID-19.
