Abstract
Non-Volatile Memory (NVRAM) such as STT-MRAM and PCRAM is byte-addressable and durable. Emerging NVRAM has changed storage stack that ranges from heap management library/key-value store to filesystems. The researchers tailored block-based storage stack to byte-based storage stack for NVRAM. For example, a byte-addressable filesystem manages metadata at byte-granularity and performs fine-grained journaling at cachelinegranularity. In addition, a persistent heap manages objects on NVRAM without serializing to block device. In this dissertation, we focused on the byte-addressable filesystem and the persistent heap. In the byte-addressable filesystem, we studied scalable filesystem and hybrid consistency. In the persistent heap, we studied native persistent heap management.
