국내외 전문무용수 직업전환 교육 사업 비교 연구

Abstract

Although the profession of a professional dancer may seem glamorous and free, it often contrasts with the reality. Due to inadequate support structures and unstable forms of employment, professional dancers face economic hardships. Physical ability, a crucial supporting aspect for an art form that uses the body for expression, undergoes inevitable changes. Several factors accelerate the retirement of professional dancers. Most professional dancers devote roughly a decade to a dance-centric lifestyle to perform on stage, resulting in a lack of substantial information about areas outside dance. Consequently, when faced with reintegration into a new environment post-retirement, professional dancers are in vital need of support for career transition. This research aims to examine the successful instances and status of career transition education programs executed by career transition centers for dancers domestically and abroad. The goal is to conduct a comparative analysis of these programs from a systemic, operational, and financial standpoint and suggest improvements for the domestic support centers for professional dancers. The subjects of comparison include domestic support centers for professional dancers, Dancers Career Development(DCD) in the UK, and Career Transition For Dancers(CTFD) in the US. The comparison between domestic and international dancer career transition centers from systemic, operational, and financial perspectives yielded the following results: Firstly, systemically, while domestic professional dancer support centers restrict their program support predominantly to pure dance majors, international dancer career transition centers accept applicants without such limits and manage dancers by classifying them in detail. Moreover, while domestic centers maintain one main office, international centers have established regional main offices and put in place systemic strategies for internal growth. Secondly, operationally, domestic career transition education programs are entirely composed of dance-related education programs with a single type of subsidy. Conversely, international career transition education programs are structured to enable transitions into fields beyond dance, offering various forms of financial aid. Thirdly, financially, while the primary operating capital domestically is the national budget, internationally, finances are managed through diverse forms of donations, trusts, and funds, along with the national budget. Based on these findings, the suggested improvements for domestic professional dancer support centers include: Firstly, from a systemic standpoint, expanding the support criteria for education program applicants and establishing detailed selection standards are recommended. There's also a need for departmentalization based on dancer characteristics and the establishment of systemic strategies for setting up regional centers and internal growth. Secondly, operationally, the scope of career transition education programs should be broadened to include other arts and different fields through agreements with external companies. Additionally, the diversity of educational funding support items should be increased. Thirdly, financially, securing ample national budget and diversifying fundraising methods through sponsorships, crowdfunding, MOUs, etc., is recommended. Assuming domestic professional dancer support centers retain their educational program advantages while adopting the merits and comprehensive educational program systems of international dancer career transition centers, it is believed that they can achieve both the internal growth of support centers and the development of career transition education programs. This study hopes to aid in establishing an educational program system for career transitions of all artists within the country, going beyond just the development of domestic professional dancer support centers and career transition education programs.|전문무용수라는 직업은 화려하고 자유로운 직업처럼 보이지만 실상은 그렇지 않다. 지원 체계의 부족과 불안정한 고용 형태로 인해 전문무용수들이 겪는 경제적 어려움, 신체를 사용하여 표현하는 예술이기에 반드시 뒷받침 되어야 하는 신체적 능력의 변화, 이외에도 여러 가지 요인들이 전문무용수의 은퇴시기를 앞당긴다. 대부분의 전문무용수는 무대 위에 서기 위해 약 10여년의 시간동안 무용이 주가 되는 생활을 해왔고, 그렇기 때문에 무용 이외의 분야에 대한 정보가 충분하지 않다. 따라서 은퇴 후 새로운 환경으로의 재사회화를 맞닥뜨리게 되는 전문무용수에게는 직업전환에 대한 지원이 필수적으로 행해져야 할 필요가 있다. 이에 본 연구는 국내외 무용수 직업전환센터에서 실행한 직업전환 교육 사업의 성공 사례와 실태를 살펴보고, 국내외 전문무용수 직업전환 교육 사업을 제도적 측면, 운영적 측면, 재정적 측면에서 비교 연구하여 이를 토대로 국내 전문무용수지원센터의 발전방안을 제시하는데 목적이 있다. 비교 연구 대상으로는 한국의 전문무용수지원센터, 영국의 DCD(Dancers Career Development), 미국의 CTFD(Career Transition For Dancers)를 선정하였다. 국내 전문무용수지원센터와 국외 무용수 직업전환센터를 제도적, 운영적, 재정적 측면에서 비교한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 제도적 측면을 살펴본 결과 국내 전문무용수지원센터의 교육 사업은 대부분의 프로그램이 지원 대상자를 순수무용 전공자로 제한하고 있었지만 국외 무용수 직업전환센터는 이러한 제한 없이 지원자를 받고 있었으며 무용수들을 세부적으로 분류하여 관리하고 있었다. 또한 국내 전문무용수지원센터는 하나의 본사를 두고 있었던 반면, 국외 무용수 직업전환센터는 지역별로 본사를 두고 있었고 센터 내부의 발전을 위한 제도적 방안이 구축되어 있었다. 둘째, 운영적 측면을 살펴본 결과 국내 직업전환 교육 사업은 모두 무용과 관련된 교육 프로그램으로 구성되어 있었고 한 가지 종류의 보조금이 있었지만 국외 직업전환 교육 사업은 무용 이외에 타 분야로도 직업전환이 가능하도록 프로그램이 구성되어 있었으며 여러 가지 형태의 보조금이 있었다. 셋째, 재정적 측면을 살펴본 결과 국내는 국가 예산을 주된 운영 자금으로 사용하고 있었고 국외는 국가 예산과 함께 다양한 형태의 후원 기부금과 신탁, 펀드를 통해 재정을 관리하고 있었다. 이를 바탕으로 제시한 국내 전문무용수지원센터의 발전방안은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 제도적 측면에서는 교육 사업 지원 대상자의 지원 기준을 확대하되 세부적인 선발 기준을 마련하고, 무용수 특성에 따라 부서를 나누어 관리하는 것과 센터의 지방 설립 및 내부 발전을 위한 제도적 방안을 마련하는 것이다. 둘째, 운영적 측면에서는 외부 기업과의 협약을 통해 직업전환 교육 프로그램의 교육 범위를 무용 이외에 타 예술, 그리고 타 분야로 확장하고 교육비 지원 항목의 다양성을 확대하는 것이다. 셋째, 재정적 측면에서는 국가 예산을 충분히 확보하고 스폰서 모집, 크라우드 펀딩, MOU 체결 등을 통해 후원 기부금의 모금 방식을 확대하는 것이다. 국내 전문무용수지원센터가 그들만이 가지고 있는 교육 사업의 장점은 유지하되, 국외 무용수 직업전환센터의 장점과 광범위한 교육 사업 체계를 수용한다면 전문무용수지원센터의 내부적 발전과 직업전환 교육 사업의 발전을 모두 이루어낼 수 있을 것이라고 사료된다. 본 연구의 자료가 국내 전문무용수지원센터와 직업전환 교육 사업의 발전을 넘어 국내 모든 예술인의 직업전환을 위한 교육 사업의 체계를 구축하는데 도움이 되기를 바란다.
