국립중앙박물관의 전시디자인과 공간구성의 변화 고찰

Abstract

박물관의 주요기능 중 관람객과 직접 만나고 소통하는 전시의 기능은 관람객의 입장에서 매우 중요하다. 전시연출의 방향이 변하고 전시매체의 적극적 활용이 활발해지면서 유물과 관람객이 만나는 공간을 만들어내는 전시디자인의 역할이 더욱 증대되고 있다. 국립중앙박물관도 최신 디지털 매체의 활용이 늘어나면서 전시연출의 효과를 극대화하는 움직임을 보이고 있다. 이러한 전시연출과 매체의 변화는 기존 전시공간의 구성에 영향을 미치고 있다. 이러한 배경 하에 본 연구의 목적은 국립중앙박물관에서 전시디자인의 변화를 추적하고 그 변화가 기존 건축공간에 어떠한 영향을 미치고 있는지 고찰하고자 한다.

이를 위하여 전시연출의 방향과 사용된 매체들을 연대기적으로 조사하여 분석하고 정리하였다. 다음으로 전시디자인의 변화가 기존의 전시공간구성에 어떠한 변화를 가져왔는지 살펴보았다. 전시연출의 경우 “사유의 방”과 같이 상징공간의 계획으로 감성적 연출을 시도하고 있었으며 전시매체의 경우 최신 디지털 매체를 적극적으로 사용하며 관람객의 흥미를 유발하고 있다. 이러한 변화는 전시공간구성에도 변화를 가져오고 있는 것을 파악했다.

본 연구의 결론은 최근 나타나고 있는 전시연출과 전시매체의 변화가 전체 전시공간구성을 변화시키고 있다는 점이다. 초기에 잘 짜여진 전시 시나리오와 그에 대응하는 전체 전시공간구성의 관계가 그 일관성을 잃고 있다는 사실을 파악하였다. 대공간이 필요한 파노라마관, 적절한 크기의 실감영상관3, 각 전시실에서의 감성적 전시연출 등은 전시공간구성에 중요한 변수로 작용하고 있었다. 이러한 점에서 전시디자인의 변화는 박물관 건립 초기단계에서 건축 및 전시기본계획 시에 반드시 고려되어야 하겠다. |One of the main functions of a museum, exhibition, which directly meets and communicates with visitors, is very important from the perspective of visitors. As the direction of exhibition direction changes and the active use of exhibition media becomes more active, the role of exhibition design, which creates a space where artifacts and visitors meet, is increasing. The National Museum of Korea is also showing a movement to maximize the effect of exhibition direction as the use of the latest digital media increases. These changes in exhibition direction and media affect the organization of existing exhibition spaces. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to trace the changes in exhibition design at the National Museum of Korea and to examine how these changes affect existing architectural spaces. In doing so, the study investigated, analyzed and organized the direction of exhibition production and the media used in chronological order. Next, it looked at how the changes in exhibition design have changed the existing exhibition space organization. In the case of exhibition direction, it attempted emotional direction with symbolic space planning such as "Room of Quiet Contemplation", and in the case of exhibition media, it actively used the latest digital media to arouse visitors' interest. It was found that these changes bring about changes in the exhibition space organization.

As a result, it can be said that the changes in exhibition direction and exhibition media that have recently appeared are changing the overall exhibition space organization. It can be suggested that the relationship between the well-designed initial exhibition scenario and the overall exhibition space organization corresponding to it is losing its consistency. The panorama hall, which requires a large space, immersive digital gallery 3 with an appropriate size, and emotional exhibition direction in each exhibition room were important variables for the exhibition space organization. In this regard, changes in exhibition design should be considered at the early planning stage of architecture and exhibition when building a museum.
