Abstract
The cruise interior’s textile product design field is highly regarded as one of the high value added industry which can become a standard that can be differentiated from others that represents the quality of the ships. Therefore, it can be said that the development of the relevant field is urgent. Herein, the purpose of this research is to analyze the case studies of the interior textile product design per 4 major cruise lines, and through it, contribute to the high value added design development which would lead to competitiveness in the international society. The range of the research has been limited to the top 4 cruise lines currently in operation, Carnival cruise lines, Celebrity cruise lines, Royal Caribbean cruise lines, Star cruise lines. Dissertations, relevant books and internet data have been used for reference in order to propose a theoretical background on the status of the cruise and the cruise interior textile products. Furthermore, by utilizing the internal interior design data of the 4 major cruise lines, categories such as space image, style, the colors of textile product designs, motif, materials and so on were set to analyze the case studies and the characteristics of the interior textile product design of the 4 major cruise lines. As a result of the research, Conquest of Carnival cruise lines indicated characteristics that strive for convenience and fun themes, Constellation of Celebrity cruise lines pursued a trendy and elegant design concept, Oasis of the Seas of Royal Caribbean cruise lines possessed a majestic and modern Scandinavian concept, and the Superstar Virgo’s bright and casual Asian themes could be seen. By analyzing the results of the interior textile product design of the world’s leading 4 cruise lines, when textile products are being designed in the future in order to satisfy the customer’s psychological satisfaction, characterized design which is suitable to each cruise line can be anticipated, and hope that this case study would be utilized as a reference material.
