고령자 커뮤니티 환경의 지역적 특성에 관한 고찰 －미국 남동부지역의 실버타운 사례분석을 중심으로－

Abstract

의학기술의 발전은 고령자 인구의 급격한 증가현상을 나타내기 시작하였다. 우리나라의 경우, 이러한 시설들의 구성 및 기능, 커뮤니티적인 측면이 상대적으로 오랜기간 준비해 온 미국, 일본 등의 선진국에 비하여 미흡한 실정이며 대부분 노인시설이 기초생활을 비롯한 고령자 보호역할 이상을 나타내지 못하고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 고령자 환경의 질을 상승시키기 위해 선진국 시설에 대한 사례를 조사하며 내포하고 있는 실버타운 프로그래밍의 장점을 통해 국내 실버타운 커뮤니티 환경의 질적인 향상 및 라이프 케어를 위한 접목을 연구목적으로 삼는다. 연구방법은 선진국 사례 중 미국 남동부 지역 실버타운의 현황을 고찰하며 해당하는 지역적 특성과 해당 프로그래밍을 바탕으로 국내 고령자 환경에 대한 접목을 시행하기로 한다. 이에 대한 연구 방법은 다음과 같이 정리한다. 첫째, 고령화 사회에 따른 한국과 미국의 고령자 시설에 대한 현황과 분류를 비교 고찰한다. 둘째, 리서치를 통해 미국의 고령자 커뮤니티 환경사례를 조사한다. 셋째, 사례분석은 지역 특성을 기준으로 국내의 지역별 고령자 커뮤니티 환경 조성을 위한 지역별 프로그램의 적용 및 활용방안을 제안한다. 연구결과에 따르면 고령자 시설에서 무엇보다 중요한 것은 각 해당하는 지역의 특성을 살린 고령자의 ‘라이프 케어’에 초점을 두고 있다는 점이다. 이는 실버타운의 요소 중에 커뮤니티 환경이라는 퍼블릭 시스템과 밀접한 관련이 있다. 결과적으로 커뮤니티 환경조성은 각 지역의 흐름에 맞는 특수성을 고려하여야 하며 지역 특수성에 따라 여가환경을 제공할 수 있는 커뮤니티가 복합적으로 구성되어야 할 것으로 판단된다.;The population growth of senior adult caused by development of medical technology. In Korea, the facility`s for the senior adult is inadequate to reach a developed nation as the America and Japan. And the great part of senior adult facilities in Korea do perform as a sheltered housing. But, in these days role of senior adult facilities are not only shelter but also community facility for senior`s life care. So, the purpose of this study is to graft the local characteristic of community program of developed nation to domestic silver town facilities and to suggest a way to improvement of senior adult facility`s quality and lifecare. Also, study of method to research is based on the local condition of the southeast religion of USA. And to attempted to combine community facilities of developed nation with domestic facilities. The method is summarized as follows. First, we research a present condition of silvertown in southeast religion of USA and compare with domestic facilities. Second, we research the local characteristic of silvertown`s community facilities. Third, we suggest the local program in southeast religion of USA adapts to the domestic silvertown for the senior`s life care. According to the research, the most important thing is a Lifecare which is concerned about community system as like a public area for a leisure & spare time. It should consider the complex community through the local characteristics for a senior adult.
