20세기 코스튬 주얼리 디자인에 대한 고찰 - 샤넬의 주얼리 디자인 중심으로 -

Abstract

자기표현을 우선시 여기는 현대시대에 개인의 개성이 차별화 되고 있으며 그로인해 패션과 주얼리는 그 비중이 점차적으로 증가하고 있다. 코스튬 주얼리는 재료, 경제적 측면에서 어떤 장식 분야보다도 넓은 시장을 가지고 있어 그 중요성을재인식 할 필요가 있다. 특히, 코스튬 주얼리의 선두주자였던 샤넬의1920년대부터 1960년까지의 주얼리를 문헌조사 중심으로 연구하였다. 금속의가치와 보석의 품위가 중요한 것으로 인식되는 파인 주얼리와는 다르게 디자인과 소재에서 제약을 받지 않고 다채로운 효과를 낼 수 있다는 장점을 가지고 있다.

샤넬은 왕성한 활동을 통해 인조보석 을 대중들에게 보급하면서 그 인식을 새롭게 하였다. 샤넬의 디자인 모티브는 크게 비잔틴 양식, 르네상스 양식, 까멜리아 꽃양식, 사물 양식, 로고 양식으로 분류 된다. 그 중 진짜와 가짜의 여러 줄로 엮은진주 목걸이는 패션의 고전이 되었으며 여러 색의 불규칙한 형태의 보석 펜던트가 달린 긴 체인 목걸이와 비잔틴 양식의 십자가 목걸이는 단순한 패션에 활기와생명력을 불어 넣었다. 블랙과 단정한 색상을 강조하는 패션과 대조되는 다양한색상의 화려한 주얼리는 금, 은, 동 등의 다양한 금속과 가지각색의 색상을 가진유색보석과 인조 보석, 유리, 플라스틱 등의 새로운 소재를 이용하여 코스튬주얼리를 창조적이고 대중적인 주얼리로 변모시켰다. 값비싼 귀금속을 대신하여 장식욕구를 채워 줄 수 있었던 샤넬의 코스튬 주얼리는 그 역할의 중요성과우수성에서 그 의의를 찾는다.;Owing to one of the characteristics of our own day in which self-expression has priority over others, personality of an individual is differentiated from one another, which increasingly gives a great deal of weight on fashion and jewelry. Costume jewelry has a bigger market than any other kind, it is necessary that we need have a new understanding of its importance. For doing so especially I investigated the literature on Channel, the leading company of costume jewelry from 1920’s to 1960’s. Different from find jewelry in which value of metals and quality of jewels are considered significant, costume jewelry helps make variegated effects with no restriction of materials. Channel made such awareness anew by spreading imitation jewelry out of its flourishing business. The design motives of Channel are divisible largely into Byzantine style, Renaissance style, Camellia Flower style, Object style, Logo style. Among them, the necklace made by weaving various strings of authentic and artificial pearls became a classic in jewelry fashion, and the chain necklace hung by diverse pendants with irregular patterns in different colors and the Cross necklace in Byzantine-style inspired a new life and spirit into a simple jewelry fashion. In contrast to the fashion that laid importance on clean-cut colors like black, the new jewelry brilliant with various colors transformed costume jewelry into a creative and popular jewelry by making use of various metals such as gold, silver, copper, etc. and new materials such as colored jewels, artificial jewels, glass, plastics, etc. The costume jewelry of Channel satisfied people’s wants for decoration in place of precious metals which are prohibit ve needs to be reconsidered in terms of its importance and excellence in what it did to jewelry industry.
