청년의 기억, 청춘의 이미지, 1930년대 일본체험 회고담 연구 2

Abstract

이 글은 1930년대 대중잡지에 게재된 ‘일본 유학시절 추억 회고담’에 대한 연구이다. 1930년대 회고담은, 과거 1920년대 일본 체험이라는 사건(사실)과, 그것을 바로 그렇게 기억 서술하는 1930년대 문화⋅정치적 맥락과 이데올로기적 지형을 살필 수 있는 텍스트이다.

1930년대 대중매체에 게재된 일본 유학시절 회고담은 1920년대 청년시절에 대한 ‘구체적이고 사실적인 장소성’의 표현이라는 점에서 주목을 요한다. 1920년대 청년담론의 담론적 과잉과 기행서간문의 내면으로의 회피 속에서, 1920년대 일본 유학시절 유학생 지식인은 누가 어디서 무엇을 했는지, 그때 그들의 심정은 어땠는지를 그들의 목소리로 전해주지 않는다. 이 역사의 빈 곳을 1930년대 회고담은 구체적 장소 표상과 기억서술을 통해 잘 드러내 준다. 또한 1920년대에 담론적 기득권이 없던 유학 후속세대의 모색과 방황, 1920년대 중반 이후 선택과 변모의 과정, 이 과정이 근대 부르주아 자유주의적 문화운동과 맥을 같이하는 지점을 보여준다.

이 부류 회고담 중 이헌구의 글은 1920년대 ‘청년상’과 복합적으로 얽혀있던 계몽⋅민족⋅사회주의와의 연관을 섬세하게 기억하고 마주한다. 반면 다수의 다른 글들은 부르주아 문화운동의 식민지 체제내부화, 보수화, 문화의 자본주의적 상업화, 대중잡지 매체의 변모를 통해 변해버린 1930년대 후반의 현재 시점에서 과거기억의 사후처리로 볼 수있다. 1920년대 ‘정치적 청년’을 탈각하고, 사사화된 추억담으로 회고되는 ‘청춘의 문화표상’으로서의 1930년대의 ‘과거⋅청년을 기억⋅서술하기’는, 사실은 당대 부르주아 자유주의자들의 그 ‘현재에 자신들을 정위시키는 선택, 그 선택 하의 과거의 사후처리’라고 할 수있다.;This paper is a study on the 1930` reminiscences of youth memories for Japan students abroad (留學生) published in the popular magazine Cho Kwang. 1930` reminiscences of youth memories are the texts that are tangled with Japanese experience, an incident(fact) in the 1920s and 1930` context it`s exactly what they remembered to describe. It requires attention that the reminiscences published in the mass media in the 1930s, Japan is a concrete and realistic representation of the topophilia. Some of the 1930` reminiscences delicately reveal and fill the absence of records on the historical memory of the 1920s through concrete representation and memories-narrative of the place Japan. And some of the reminiscences reveal wandering and sought of subsequent abroad generations, selection and transformed since the mid-1920s, and the flow and transformation of Korean modern bourgeois liberal cultural movement. But some of the many private memories can be seen as the post-processing of past memories late of the 1930s, at the time after passing through the conservative of the bourgeois culture movement, the capitalist culture of commercialization, transformation of popular magazines and mass media field The remembering-describing of past-youth in the late 1930`s is the cultural representations of youth as the private memories and the current political choices as post-processing of the past.
