국내 자동차 산업의 구조 개편 방향에 관한 고찰

Abstract

[연구목적] 본 연구의 목적은 국내 자동차 산업의 구조 개편 방향에 관한 고찰을 토대로경영적 시사점을 도출하는 것이다. [연구방법] 연구방법은 문헌연구이다. 세계 자동차 산업의 구조조정 동향, 국내 자동차산업의 리스크 요인, 정부와 기업의 대응에 대한 연구를 바탕으로 국내 자동차 산업의 구조 개편 방향에 관한 고찰을 진행했다. [연구결과] 국내 승용차 제조사는 내수시장 포화, 생산비용 증가, 미국과 일본 등지의 사례에서 보듯이 현 5개사에서 3～4개사 정도만 남을 가능성이 높다. 둘째, 현대/기아차는어려움을 겪고 있는 중국 의존도를 낮추는 대신 신남방국가에 대한 투자를 확대할 것으로예상된다. 셋째, 전기차 전환에 따른 자동차 부품사의 구조 개편 가능성이 높아질 것으로전망된다. 따라서 전후방 연관효과가 큰 자동차산업의 지속적인 발전을 위해서는 자동차부품영역 유형별 지원방안이 필요해 보인다. [연구의 시사점] 한국 자동차 산업이 경쟁력 약화, 전기차 전환 이슈 등으로 위기에 직면해 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 이에 향후 정부와 기업의 기민한 대응이 계속 필요하며, 자동차 부품사의 생존을 위해서 미래차 대응력을 제고할 필요가 있어 보인다.[Purpose] The purpose of this study is to derive management implications based on considerations on the direction of restructuring of the domestic automobile industry. [Methodology] The research method is literature research. Based on research on the restructuring trend of the global automobile industry, risk factors of the domestic automobile industry, and the response of the government and corporations, a study was conducted on the direction of the restructuring of the domestic automobile industry. [Findings] It is highly likely that only 3 to 4 companies remain out of the current 5 companies, as seen in the case of domestic automobile manufacturers saturating the domestic market, increasing production costs, and in the US and Japan. Second, Hyundai/Kia is expected to expand investment in new southern countries instead of lowering its dependence on China, which is struggling. Third, the possibility of restructuring auto parts makers is expected to increase following the conversion of electric vehicles. Therefore, for the continuous development of the automobile industry, which has a large front－rear link effect, it seems necessary to support plans for each type of automobile parts area. [Implications] It was confirmed that the Korean automobile industry is facing a crisis due to weakening competitiveness and EV conversion issues. Accordingly, there is a need for agile response from the government and companies in the future, and it seems that there is a need to improve the responsiveness of future cars for the survival of auto parts makers.
