Abstract
As high-fat dietary habits and obesity rates have recently increased, cardiovascular disease (CVD), such as coronary artery disease, occurs as one of the fatal medical problems worldwide. Due to the unexpected cardiac risks of CVD patients, the cardiovascular condition does need to be continuously tracked. For this reason, implantable devices that monitor physiological signals have gained much interest with their ability to provide diagnostic information in real-time. However, most devices have suffered from not only low signal-to-noise caused by high contact resistance between devices and human tissues but also, inflammation on the interface. Here, we demonstrate a novel design for a biocompatible ionogel (BIG) based implantable pressure sensor with its highly piezo-sensitive characteristic. Moreover, the LC passive circuit was integrated with a BIG-based pressure sensor, which enables the sensor to transport bio-signal wirelessly. Successful integration of the BIG composite into the LC circuit antenna that is capable of perceiving subtle signals from the human body will likely attract the scope of applications of our material to the next-generation health monitoring system.
