- Abstract
- The purpose of this study is to provide basic data needed to solve smartphone overdependence problems by exploring the effects of sports activities of college students on self-control and smartphone overdependence.
The researcher surveyed university students in Seoul, Gyeonggi, Busan, and Iksan in July 2020. Survey participants were selected on a convenience sampling basis. Using the SPSS ver. 26.0 program, 259 copies of the data collected online were analyzed through frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, correlation analysis, independent sample t-test, one-way ANOVA, and multiple regression, and the conclusions are as follows:
According to the analysis of the impact of sports activities on self-control and smartphone overdependence among college students, the period of engaging in sports activities affected self-control but did not affect smartphone overdependence. The time spent on sports activities affected smartphone overdependence but did not affect self-control.
Therefore, the results of this study suggest that university students can increase self-control and lower their dependence on smartphones through engaging in sports activities, and it is expected that college students will become owners who use smartphones well through the development of smartphone overdependence prevention programs in the future.
