태권도 전공 대학생의 미국 불법인턴사범 경험과정의 의미와 가치 탐색

Abstract

본 연구는 태권도 전공 대학생들의 관광비자(ESTA)를 이용한 미국 불법인턴사범 경험과정의 의미와 가치를 그들이 마주하는 현실문제와 고충 그리고 어떠한 방법으로 문제를 해결해나가는지를 중심으로 사회·문화적 관점에서 탐색하고자 하였다. 본 연구의 연구목적을 달성하기 위하여 질적연구 방법 중 경험적 자료를 토대로 이론을 도출하는데 적합한 Strauss & Corbind(1998)의 근거이론 연구방법을 사용하였다. 연구참여자는 태권도 전공학과에 재학 중이면서 관광비자(ESTA)를 이용한 미국 인턴사범의 경험이 있는 10명의 태권도선수를 선정하였다. 심층면담은 반 구조화 면담과 비 구조화 면담을 혼용해 연구참여자의 진솔한 경험을 도출하고자 노력하였으며, 심층면담을 통해 수집된 자료는 근거이론의 기본분석방법에 따라 196개의 개념과 24개의 하위범주, 14개의 상위범주로 구성하였다. 태권도 전공대학생의 미국 불법인턴사범 경험의 과정에서 도출된 인과적 상황은 [인식의 부족], [미국태권도 시장 경험의지]로 나타났다. 맥락적 상황은 [국내 태권도의 보편화], [주관자의 영향], [불법 취업]으로 나타났다. 중심현상은 [미국생활의 부적응]으로 나타났다. 중재적 상황에서는 [태권도에 대한 애정], [타인의 지지], [지도자로써의 책임감]으로 나타났다. 상호작용전략은 [귀국 후 진로준비], [스트레스 해소방법 찾기], [적극적인 태도변화]가 도출되었다. 결과로 [해외 태권도 시장진출]과 [국내복귀]가 나타났다. 이와 같은 축코딩 결과를 토대로 도출한 선택코딩 결과는 [태권도 인턴 사범 경험을 통한 개인의 미래 설정]으로 도출되었다. 이는 연구 참여자가 미국 불법인턴사범 과정에서 경험한 현실적인 문제와 당면한 고충을 극복하는 수단으로써 작용한 것으로 나타났다.

The purpose of this study is to explore the realistic problems and hardships by which collegiate students majoring in taekwondo experienced an illegal intern instructor using tourist visas (ESTA), and to find out in depth how they solve the problem from a social and cultural perspective. To achieve the purpose of the study, the grounded theory approach of Strauss & Corbind (1998) as a qualitative research method was used to draw theory based on empirical data. The participants were selected as 10 taekwondo players who are attending in taekwondo-related department and have experience with U.S. internships of taekwondo master using tourist visas (ESTA). The researchers tried to derive honest experiences from the participants by organizing semi-structured questionnaires, and the data collected through in-depth interviews were derived and constructed into 196 concepts, 24 subcategories and 14 higher categories according to an analytical method of the grounded theory. The causal situation derived from the experiences of collegiate students majoring in taekwondo as an illegal intern instructor turned out to be [their willingness to experience the U.S. Taekwondo market] and [the lack of awareness]. Contextual situations were found to be [the universalization of domestic taekwondo] and [the influence of the subject]. The central phenomenon appeared to be [maladjustment to American life]. The intermediate situation was shown by [the support of others], [the affection for the Taekwondo] and [a sense of responsibility of the instructor]. Interactive strategies showed [Find a way to relieve stress], [preparation for career after return] and [aggressive change of attitude]. The results were [advance into overseas taekwondo market] and [return home]. The result of the selective coding produced by the following axial coding results is [their affection for taekwondo and patriotism]. These strategies were found to have served as a means to overcome the realistic problems and the hardships faced by participants in the illegal internship program of tawkwondo.
