텍스트마이닝을 활용한 최막중의 국토 및 도시계획 연구경향 분석: 학술지 게재논문을 중심으로

Abstract

국토 및 도시계획의 역사가 60주년을 넘어서면서, 지난 계획의 동향을 고찰하고 앞으로의 연구방향에 대한 논의를 본격화할 시기에 접어들었다. 최근 이를위하여 몇몇 연구들이 노력을 하고 있으나 여전히 그수에 있어서 상대적으로 부족하고, 그 접근 방법 또한 주관적이고 임의적이라 할 수 있다. 따라서 본 논문은 텍스트마이닝을 통하여 국토 및 도시계획 분야의 2세대 주요 연구자 중의 한 명인 최막중의 국내외저널에 발표 한 학술 논문을 대상으로 국토 및 도시계획에 관한 지난 30여 년간의 연구 동향을 파악하고시사점을 도출하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 본 논문은그의 논문 제목에 대한 단어 빈도 분석과 Bi-gram 언어 모델링, 그리고 그의 영문요약에 대한 토픽 모델링 등의 텍스트마이닝 기법을 적용하였다. 단어 빈도분석에 의한 분석 결과는 그의 주요 연구 주제가 경험적 증거 기반의 실증분석을 주택과 관련된 주제에보다 초점을 맞추어 왔음을 보여주었다. 또한Bi-gram 언어 모델링에 의한 분석 결과는 워드 클라우딩 분석과 유사하게 나타났다. 그러나 그 결과를구체적으로 살펴보면, 연구의 세부주제가 연결되어있지만 독립적으로, 그리고 보다 분화되어 연구가 이루어졌음을 보여주었다. 즉, 그는 도시 개발, 주거 지역, 사회적 혼합 및 역세권 개발, 여가와 같은 다양한연구 주제도 다루었음을 알 수 있다. 그의 연구 경향을 두 가지 주제로 대별하여 Bi-gram 토픽 모델링으로 분석하면, 주택 시장 연구와 도시 개발 및 계획연구로 분류되었다. 이는 그의 연구가 국토 및 도시분야에서 자본시장인 민간영역과 계획 및 정책분야인 공공영역을 모두 포괄하는 연구를 진행하여 왔음을 알 수 있다. 추가적인 토픽 모델링 분석에서는 최막중의 연구가 13가지 주제로 상세하게 분류될 수 있음을 보여주었다. 마지막으로, 논문 초록 텍스트와제목에 있는 주요 단어의 연구 동향을 살펴보면 그의연구는 당시에 중요한 현안 문제를 해소하고자 하였으며, 최근의 다양한 사회구조적 변화에 따라 최근에그의 주제가 더욱 다양해졌음을 확인하였다. This study is aimed at identifying the research trend of Mack Joong Choi on territorial and urban planning through text mining on his academic papers published in both domestic and international journals. The study employs text mining methodologies, specifically using a word frequency analysis and a bi-gram language modeling for the titles and topic modeling for abstract contents. Analysis results by the word frequency method demonstrate that his major research topic had been focused on housing-related topics based on empirical evidence. Analysis results by the bi-gram language modeling does not only indicate that his major research topic is housing-related study based on empirical evidence, but also suggest that he had focused on such other research topics as urban development, residential location, social mix, and rail station area development. Analysis results on the topic modeling would identify that his research trend would be categorized into housing market and urban development and planning, which they can be named as private and public sector of the territorial and urban planning field, respectively, if it would be divided into two topics. The topic modeling analysis also informs us that his research could be more specifically classified into 13 topics. Lastly, analysis results on yearly research trend demonstrate that he dealt with emerging issues at that time while researching with more diverse issues such as leisure at recent years.
