Abstract
Modern design has been limited to a tool for centralization of social economic system since its conceptual root is on the utilitarian service through "Art Democratization" caused democratic economic system in 21th century. All interest of design has been to maintain and develope methods and techniques for utilitarian art. The trait of design theories is to study propriety and methodology of the strict technique within fixed and ruled value. Instrumental theories don`t comment what factors are important but consider importance of external appearance in design like a panacea. As for problems commented above in modern design, I am going to study and analyze why modern design theories are developed like that and why the people misunderstand design concepts. At first, I will give the comprehensive understanding of aesthetics and define design concepts on it. I will comment the frame of product aesthetics in other to criticize modern design at aesthetic point of mass media and modern society. Based on Baudrillard`s and Haug`s theories, I will explain about design concepts which has been proceeded to incorrect direction and advertising design of Benetton as a example. Through modern aesthetics and design criticism, we have a good opportunity to recover important things we lost and to understand aesthetics and correct design concepts.
