한국 전통자수 생활용품에 표현된 자수문양의 특성분석에 관한 연구(A Study on Characteristics Analysis of Embroidery Patterns Expressed on Living articles with Korean Traditional Embroidery)

Abstract

When we trace the development history of human culture, we can find that Korean traditional embroidery patterns have greatly contributed on the development of human culture directly or indirectly. Korean traditional embroidery patterns include the historic nature of Korean beauty and ancestors' lives that made it possible, so the value of Korean traditional embroidery patterns in modem designs can be said as designing&nb! sp;tool to express the decorative desires by displaying aesthetic pursuit fully. However, the patterns used in modem designs are limited extremely in some parts of Korean traditional embroidery patterns, therefore it is required to develop and modernize designs of patterns using more various Korean traditional embroidery patterns. Therefore this study aims at classifying Korean traditional embroidery patterns systematically and researching and analyzing it in order to give help to reorganize it as a shape and utilize it by analyzing the aesthetic sense of Korean traditional embroidery patterns and searching the essence of national consciousness inside in it. As research methods, w! e classified the patterns of the living articles reflecting the lives of our women just as it was according to materials and meanings into safekeeping articles, bedding articles, decorative articles, wrapping cloth and other articles and analyzed and inquired them. "Die results of survey of characteristics of Korean traditional embroidery patterns that have both practicality and beauty are as the following. The patterns expressed on living articles with Korean traditional embroidery mainly symbolize natural phenomena, waiting for lucky things and chasing of the evil, fecundity and expectation to children, longevity and happiness, great achievement and success in life, fortune and richness, couple in harmony, sweet home etc. therefore we could see our ancestors'! naturalism and Confucian view on life that enphasized the adaptation and harmony to human beings and nature most and by taking out the symbolism and plastic elements that the patterns had inside according to the types, we organized the basic classification system for Korean traditional embroidery patterns concretely according to the objects that the patterns were expressed on (the living articles used in those days).
