개념 조화를 통한 남북 전문용어 통합의 새로운 모색

Abstract

이 글에서는 그간 국내에서 진행된 전문용어 작업과 그 작업의 방법론으로 실시된 ‘전문용어 표준화’를 비판적으로 검토하였다. 그리고 전문용어 조화를 통한 전문용어 통합의 실제 방법론을 탐색하여 남북 전문용어 통합 방법에 있어 새로운 전환을 시도하고자 하였다. 2장에서는 이전에 연구된 전문용어의 통합 연구에 대해 비판적으로 살펴보았다. 그리고 전문용어 통합을 위해서는 전문용어 간 ‘개념 차이’, ‘개념 체계의 차이’, ‘정의 차이’, ‘형식 차이’를 확인해야 한다고 주장하였다. 3장에서는 「ISO 860」에서 제시하고 있는 전문용어 조화의 방법론을 소개하고 실제 예를 들어 설명하였다. 개념 조화 절차에서는 개념체계의 조화가 기본으로 전제되며 정해진 절차에 의해 조화가 시도됨을 확인하였다. 4장에서는 앞서 살펴본 내용을 바탕으로 남북 전문용어 통합의 모델을 제시하였다. 통합의 단계는 ‘1단계: 사전 준비 단계 → 2단계: 목록 구축 및 분석 단계 → 3단계: 개념 조화 작업 단계 → 4단계: 용어 조화 작업 단계 → 5단계: 조화된 전문용어의 유지 · 관리 단계’로 구분하여 제시하였다. 그리고 마지막 장에서는 이 글을 요약하고 전문용어 조화의 방법론을 구체화할 수 있어야 한다고 주장하였다.

This paper critically examines the terminology standardization that has been conducted in South Korea according to its work of terminology and methodology. This examination is based on the actual terminology integration methodology used. The results of the analysis were used to create a new method for integrating North and South Korean terminology. Chapter 2 critically examines the integration of previously studied terminology. In order to integrate terminology, it is necessary to identify the conceptual, conceptual system, definition and formal differences between among terminology. Chapter 3 introduces the terminology harmonization method proposed in ISO 860 and presents practical examples of its application. This method is assumed to be the basis of the harmonization of conceptual systems. Harmonization was confirmed to have been attempted using this procedure. Chapter 4 presents a model for the integration of terminology. Integration begins with preparation, followed by list construction and analysis, conceptual harmonization, term harmonization, and finally maintenance and management of harmonized terminology. The last section summarizes the article and argues that the terminology harmonization methodology should be put into practice.
