이러닝(e－Learning)을 위한 학습 메타데이터(Metadata) 비교분석

Abstract

정보기술과 인터넷의 발달은 시공을 초월하는 배움에 대한 요구에 맞추어 이러닝(e-Learning) 시스템을 탄생시켰다. 그러나 방대한 이러닝 컨텐츠중에서 사용자가 원하는 자료를 쉽고 빠르게 찾기란 쉽지 않다. 마치 도서관에서 원하는 자료를 찾을 때 자료에 대한 정보를 담고 있는 메타데이터(metadata)를 이용해 쉽고 빠르게 원하는 자료를 찾아내는 것처럼, 이러닝에서도 메타데이터가 사용되고 있으며 이러닝이 발달할수록 메타데이터의 중요성도 대두되고 있다. 현재 국제적으로 교육학술을 기술하는 다수의 메타데이터가 존재하나 이러닝 시스템을 구축하며 국제적인 규약이나 협약이 없이 제작되어 비록 기본적으로 공통되는 메타데이터에 관한 부분이 있더라도 개발주체의 특성 값이 반영되어 있으므로 메타데이터의 공유 및 유통에는 한계가 있다고 지적되어 왔다. 이러한 이유로 이러닝 시스템을 포함한 교육정보 메타데이터의 표준화가 국제적인 관심사로 떠오르고 있으며 이미 수년 전부터 표준화를 위한 컨소시엄이 구성되어 계속적인 성과를 제출하고 있다. 우리나라에서도 한국교육학술정보원(KERIS)에서 국가 표준 교육정보 메타데이터 형식 개발 연구를 통해 Korea Educational Metadata(KEM) 을 발표하였고 국가표준인 KS를 획득하였다. 또한, 우리나라 KEM의 우수성에 대해 국제회의에서도 관심을 표명한 바 있다. 현재는 KEM v3.0의 정보모델이 발표된 상태이다. 본 연구를 통해 기존에 제시되었던 메타데이터들의 동향파악 및 요소의 비교분석을 통해 메타데이터들을 집대성하였다. 또한, 메타데이터의 장단점과 특성을 살펴보았으며, 우리나라의 교육용 메타데이터인 KEM에 대한 보완사항을 구체적으로 제시하였다.; Development of information technology and desire to learn without limitation of time-space, gave birth to e-Learning system. But it is not easy to quickly find one's wanted information among vast e-Learning contents. Metadata is used in e-Learning, as if data of data is used to find information more easily in libraries. Metadata became more important as e-Learning got more developed. Currently there are various kinds of Metadata through out the world, which caused limitation of sharing Metadata. Therefore, standardization of e-Learning system and metadata has been emerging as international interest. Consortiums have been started to get organized several years ago and results have been obtained continuously. In Korea, KERIS developed Korea Educational Metadata (KEM), through studies of national standard educational information metadata formats, and acquired KS. Furthermore, the excellence of KEM has been expressed in international conferences. Currently information model of KEM v3.0 has been introduced. This study compiles metadatas through comparison of previous metadata elements. And also, suggests improvement areas in detail through pointing out strength and weakness of KEM.
