Sergei Rachmaninoff의 Piano Sonata No. 2, Op. 36 연구

Abstract

라흐마니노프(Sergei Rachmaninoff, 1873～1943)는 19세기 말과 20세기 초반에 활동했던 대표적인 작곡가이자 피아니스트였다. 그는 20세기 초반 급속하게 변하는 근대음악의 성향과는 대조적으로 낭만주의 음악양식을 고수하였다. 피아노 음악은 라흐마니노프의 창작활동의 중심으로써 풍부한 선율과 러시아 국민적 색채로 특유의 음악성이 구축되어있다. 본 논문에서는 라흐마니노프의 「Piano Sonata No. 2」, Op. 36을 분석 고찰하였다. 1913년에 작곡되어 1931년에 개정된 이 작품은 세 개의 악장으로 구성되어있다. 제 1악장은 소나타형식, 제 2악장은 3부 형식 그리고 제 3악장은 론도형식으로 이루어져 있다. 이 작품의 몇 가지 특징들을 살펴보면 첫째, 제 1악장의 제 1주제가 곡 전체에 걸쳐 반복, 변형되어 나타남으로 곡 전체에 통일성을 부여한다. 둘째, 제 2악장의 서주와 제 3악장의 서주가 선율이나 화음부분에서 서로 동일하게 사용됨에 따라 곡의 통일성을 유지한다. 셋째, 선율진행을 살펴보면 전반적으로 반음계적 선율진행이 많이 쓰이고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 이 곡의 가장 큰 특징인 제 1악장의 제 1주제가 변형, 반복되는 선율진행을 중심으로 분석하고자 한다. 따라서 라흐마니노프의 작품경향과 작곡기법에 대해 고찰해 볼 수 있다.; Sergei Rachmaninoff(1873～1943), one of best-known Russian composers, had a style affected by the 19th century Romantic period. Rachmaninoff's piano music is at the center of his creative achievement. The present study examines Rachmaninoff's life and his music and casts closer look into his piano sonata No. 2, Op. 36. Composed in 1913 and revised in 1931, this piece consists of three movements: The first movement is in sonata-form; the second in ternary-form; and the third in rondo-form. The paper focuses on the formal aspects and the present study finds the following. First, the thematic motive from the first movement is modified and repeated throughout the work. Second, the beginning parts of the second and the third movements are similar in terms of melody and harmony. Third, the recurring chromatic melodic lines are modified by the first theme of the first movement. The first thematic motive of the first movement gives the sense of unity among the movements, which is characteristic in this work.
