Abstract

19세기말과 20세기초반에 걸쳐 활동한 작곡가 겸 지휘자인 리하르트 슈트라우스(Richard Strauss, 1864-1949)는 독일 후기 낭만가곡의 대표적인 인물로써 60여년에 걸쳐 150여곡의 가곡을 작곡하였다. 그의 작품 가운데 가장 두각을 나타내었던 장르로는 오페라와 교향시, 그리고 예술가곡을 들 수 있다. 가곡은 그의 전 생애를 통해 쓰였는데, 이들은 독일 낭만주의 예술가곡의 중 추적인 위치를 차지하고 있을 뿐 아니라 독일가곡의 현대화, 대중화를 선도하였으며, 또한 반음계적 화성과 빈번한 전조, 대담한 멜로디형태를 사용함으로써 음악과 시의 밀접한 연관성을 색채감 있게 표현하여 전달 해 주고 있다. 본 논문에서는 슈트라우스의 <소녀의 꽃, Madchenblumen>에 나타난 초기가곡의 특징인 맑고 깨끗한 서정적 표현과 열정적인 감성을 살펴보았다. 이 작품은 각각 다른 성격을 소유한 여성의 모습을 꽃에 비유하여 독자적이며, 개성적인 표현을 담고 있어 시와 음악의 조화가 뛰어난 곡이며, 피아노 성부도 시의 내용에 어울리는 흐름을 가지고 있다. 특히 반음계적인 멜로디와 낭송적인 선율, 극단적인 도약 등이 많이 사용되어 후기낭만적인 특성이 잘 나타나고 있다. 또한 본 논문은 슈트라우스의 초기가곡의 음악적 특징과 연주 시 표현되어지는 여러 방법들을 음반자료들을 통해 비교, 연구함으로써 곡에 대한 바른 해석과 실제 연주에 도움이 되고자 하였다.; A representative composer and conductor of the late German Romantic lied, Richard Strauss (1864-1949) composed about 150 songs for almost 60 years. He was outstanding in such genres as opera, tone poem, and lied. He composed lied through his whole life, and those songs have been not only in the center of German Romantic liedbut also led the modernization and popularization of German Romantic lied. In addition, they convey the close relationship with authentic expression by using chromatic scale, frequent modulation, and adventurous forms of melody. This study brought in the clean and pure lyrical expression and passionate emotion as a special feature of early lied, appearing in Madchenblumen by Strauss. The work was ingenious in that the women who had different personalities were depicted in flowers by metaphors, and also showed the harmony of poem and melody with remarkable expressions. The piano part harmonized with the poem as well. Frequently used were the chromatic melody, recitative tune, and radical spring, which particularly were the late Romantic features. The study also purposes to help the actual performance and to interpret appropriately through comparing the musical feature of Strauss's early lied and a variety way of expressions during the performance by using the record materials.
