오페라 유령의 범죄심리를 모티브로 한 조형 연구

Abstract

20세기에 들어와서 미술에는 많은 변화와 발전이 있었다. 이전의 낡아빠진 묘사적 기능으로부터 탈피하고 새로운 미를 표현하는 질서 개념을 확립시키려 하였다. 산업사회의 경제적 부흥, 금속재료의 발달, 현대미술의 여러 영향들은 공예가들의 표현세계를 더 넓혀주었고 내면적 세계의 기쁨 , 슬픔, 고뇌 등 감정이입이란 내면의식을 새롭게 해석하여 작품으로 표현하였다. 표현의 내용도 다양한 방법을 통해 좀 더 자유롭게 표현하였고 감정이나 정서를 표현하기도 하는데 이는 서정적, 서술적, 추상적, 상징적인 방법으로 표현하였다. 이처럼 현대 공예의 표현 내용은 작가가 제시하는 생각, 의미 등을 지시하고 작가의 경험에 의한 감정이나 정서의 표현으로 요약 할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 인간의 범죄 심리에 대해 연구를 하였고 프랑스의 추리작가 가스통 르루(Gaston Leroux)가 발표한 소설 ‘오페라의 유령’에서 나타난 범죄 심리를 가지고 추상적이고 상징적인 방법을 통해 작품으로 제작하였다. 먼저 범죄자와 오페라 유령이 갖는 공통된 범죄 심리를 알아보기 위해서 본 연구자는 범죄자들은 왜 생기고 어떤 요인에 의해서 생기고 어떤 공통점들이 있을까? 에 대해 분석해 보았다. 일단 범죄자들의 경우 우리가 말하는 사회적 금기를 깼다는 것을 말한다. 그리고 대부분의 범죄자들은 이러한 금기를 깼다는 공통점이 있는데 이것은 가정환경의 불화 또는 주위에 나쁜 환경에 처해져 있었다는 것을 말한다. 물론 가정환경이 안 좋고 주위 환경이 나쁘다고 해서 다 범죄자가 되는 것은 결코 아니다. 하지만 범죄를 저지른 사람들의 가정환경이 불우한 경우가 많기 때문에 오늘날 많은 연구가 이루어지고 있다. 위에서 언급한 것과 같이 불우한 환경으로 인한 것이나 어린 시절 부모로부터 받은 상처가 있을 경우 비정상적인 인격을 가지게 될 수가 있다. 많은 사람들이 막연하게 ‘범죄란 각 개인의 문제일 뿐, 그 가족들과는 아무런 연관성이 없다’라고 생각하지만, 실제로 사람이 저지르는 모든 범죄들은 가족들과 아주 밀접한 연관성이 있는 범죄들과 그렇지는 않은 범죄들로 나누어진다. 이중에서 가족들과 연관성이 있는 범죄들의 거의 대부분은 그 범죄자들이 아주 어린 시절부터 그 가족들에게 엄청나게 많은 정신적 상처를 받은 것을 기반으로 하여 일어나며, 이런 까닭에 부모를 비롯한 가족에 대한 적개심이 원인이 되어 이런 범죄들이 일어난다고 이해하면 정확하다. 위에서 언급한 가족이나 사회로부터 받은 상처가 범죄를 일으키게 하는 모든 예가 될 수는 없다. 하지만 본 연구자는 오페라의 유령이라는 소설에서 본 유령의 캐릭터를 통해 그가 자라난 배경, 이미지, 심리 등을 분석 해본 결과 이와 비슷한 공통점을 발견하였다. 그는 태생부터 흉측한 얼굴 때문에 부모로부터 버림을 받고 사람들에게 조차도 외면을 받는다. 결국 그는 남들과 같이 평범한 삶을 살지 못하고 자신의 의지와는 상관없는 길로 빠지고 만다. 그리고 자신의 목숨을 바쳐 크리스티나라는 여자를 사랑하지만 결국 그 사랑을 이루지 못하고 죽음으로 끝을 맺는다. 작품의 전개와 표현방법에서는 오페라 유령의 내용과 그에 따른 감정 변화를 잘 표현하기 위해서 오페라 유령에서 보여 지는 상징적인 이미지를 가지고 캐스팅 작업을 통해 디오라마형식으로 제작하였다.; The art that appeared in the 20 century grew out of the former aged descriptive function. Like this the modern arts by attempting various things to the works, the tendency to say something is noticeable. As the result, these epochal were reflected in the modern industrial arts, and the writer's internal conception and the expression according to the expression of subjective emotion on the one hand, due to the enlargement of expression intention the form no longer follow the functions. Also appeared various aspects in contents and form, material technique and form. In this research, by closely observed the above tendencies the mentality of the criminal and by analysing the mentality of the ghost that convicts a crime in the novel 'Phantom of opera' which was published in 1910 by Gaston Leroux a detective story writer of france, the point of sameness was found and wanted to include that in the work. Criminal act now or before, is not a welcomed action. So the attempts of people trying to look into the minds of people and trying to know if that person is honest, has been going on for hundreds of years. And as the growth of interest in the thought of people, closely examine the criminal's way of thinking and procedures and prevent these people from committing another crime, and the research direction is gathered to correct the way of thinking system of these people. As a result of this it was known that the person's environment influences much on the crime, and the current research could understand a little on these facts through 'phantom of opera'. Like this analysing step by step the 'phantom of opera' contents and the mentality change of the ghost which changes in it, it was produced in diorama form with the symbolical sections. As the step by step mentality condition, approaching people step, abandonment from people or society step, committing crime step, attaching to love step, lastly death step, each of it was expressed. It was too insufficient to implicate and express these meaning deliveries in one scene, and there was many operation errors in the procedure expressing by grafting 'phantom of opera' contents and human mentality. But by considering that this story is a work born into musical, as in the works unfolding it was expressed to have solidity by dividing into 5 steps the scene where there is a rapid change in the ghost's mentality. There were many operation errors from challenging a subject which is not dealt often, but by significantly expressing human mentality in one scene of the work there was unlimited imaginations. After analysing the common crime mentality of 'phantom of opera' and criminal, joy and accomplishment could be obtained in the procedure of making this into a piece of work.
