Abstract
The Service industry of Korea is a major role between an economic structure and increase employment by having a majority in comparison with others. The service industry of Korea is best known for its key role in increasing national economy and job market rather than other parts of economic components, such as a construction and manufacturing industry. Especially the hotel industry among the service industries has high dependence on human resources and so, the individual’s capability in the hotel industry is a bit lager than that of other industries. The hotel’s employees are easily exposed to the circumstances, which experience the job stress from competitive atmosphere, human relations, service and rigid rules. On the one hand the extensive researches of job stress are well-defined, but on the other hand the researches related to establish the causes of job stress are not sufficient Therefore, the purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between hotel employees’ job stress and their personal type and to provide useful information and considerable suggestion about human resources management through DISC behavior Test and the questionnaire about job stress fators. In order to attain the purpose is the study, literature studies and the questionnaire survey were achieved. The study investigated the characteristics of hotel employees using PPS based on DISC and the questionnaire divided Job stress as 3 factors. The demonstrative research was conducted with the employees who work at 5-stars hotels and data analysis included frequently analysis, reliability analysis, factor analysis, T-test, and ANOVA. The results are as follows. First, the type of Conscientiousness is under stress than Influence in a burden from other department’s job and indefiniteness of orders. Secondly, the type of Conscientiousness has more stress than Influence in human relations. Whereas, the types of Dominance and Influence feel stress from fierce competition with colleagues. This result reflected their personal types, which are an inclination to a desire of accomplishment and victory. Thirdly, there was no difference among 4 behavior types in the factor of organization. It showed the most of hotel employees get heavy because of pay, promotion and welfare for employees. This research contributes to effective human management plan by investigating relations between individual behavior type and job stress of the hotel employees in the same conditions and environment. Furthermore, this study is meaningful that it provide useful information and suggestion to work out strategies for improvement hotel industry which is closely connected with human resources.
