서울역사 주변 부지를 활용한 한국복합홍보관 계획안

Abstract

해방전 서울역은 대한제국기 초기 인천을 통해 외국과의 연결통로로서의 서울역 기능에서 일제강점기 대륙으로 연결되는 거점 도시 철도역으로의 역할이 전화되어 왔다. 이후 근대도시 경성의 상징적 공간이 되어 근대문학의 중요한 소재로서 인식되어 왔다. 해방후에는 대한민국의 수도인 서울의 관문으로서의 역할을 해오고 있으며 경제개발기 이촌향도와 명절 귀향의 장소로 사용되어 왔다. 서울역의 역할이 증대되면서 1988년 서부역을 증축한 바 있고, 2004년 KTX역사 개통으로 철도역사의 기능을 잃어버린 상황에서 거대하고 둔탁한 유리건물과 상업시설에 둘러싸인 채 적절한 용도를 찾지 못한 채 방치되어 있고 , 주변에는 홈리스와 잡상인이 몰려 있어 아름다운 역사주의 양식건축물이 활용되고 있지 못할 뿐 아니라 서울역이 갖고 있는 한국근현대사의 역사적 의미와 장소적 가치가 훼손되고 있다. 하지만 2010년에 구 서울역은 새로운 Cultural Complex Center 거듭나 잠재적인 위상을 되찾을 것이다. 구 서울역의 개발과 발맞춰 주변의 변화가 계획되어 지고 있다. 공항철도가 연계되어 기존에 김포공항에서 서울역까지 많은 외국인들의 방문이 예상되어 진다. 또한 유라시아 철도의 연계에 따른 대륙철도의 기점이 될 예정이다. 국내적관문에서 국제적관문으로 전환되는 중요한 입지적 요건을 가진 서울역 주변에 서울과 대한민국을 홍보하는 The Korea Complex Information Center가 필요하다. 앞으로 The Korea Complex Information Center는 서울역의 역사성과 장소성 및 기능성에 기초한 현재적 위상 확보와 미래가치를 수용하는데 활용되어질 것이다.; Before the Liberation, in the beginning of Korean Empire times, Seoul station had taken a role as connecting pathway through Incheon with foreign countries civilization and under Japanese Imperialism invasion forces the function was changed to strategic position city of train station to main land. After that, it was considered as symbolic place of modern city 'KyungSung' and was also considered as important topics of modern literature. After the Liberation, Seoul station has taken a role as the main gate of the capital of Korean Republic and during the developing times, it was used as the place of leaving countryside for city and also used as returning place during holiday seasons. As the role of Seoul station broadens, they enlarged a new building of west station in 1988. As in 2004, KTX station facilities was built, Seoul station lost its role of train station building and it was just deserted and surrounded with huge, thick glass buildings and commercial facilities not finding rightful usage. Near the station, homeless and merchants gathered and beautiful and historic architecture was not used and the value as Korean modern historic meaning and place was hurt severely. However, previous Seoul station will recover the potential position when it is born again as new Cultural Complex Center in 2010. Keeping pace with the development of older Seoul station, changes of nearby districts will be planned. Airway railway will be connected and be expected that many foreigners will visit Korea from Kimpo airport to Seoul station. And also when Euro-Asia railway connects, it will be the starting point of inland train system. As the transition point of from the domestic gate to international gate, nearby Seoul station, it needs the Korea Complex Information Center promoting Seoul and Korea. In the future, the Korea Complex Information Center will be used to gain value as historic place for present value and future value.
