현대발레 작품성향을 통한 창작발레 대중화 방안연구

Abstract

본 연구는 오늘날의 공연예술이 그 시대의 사회적 요청과 시대의 흐름에 맞추어 새로운 아이디어와 다양한 형태로 변화되고 그 중요성이 인식되어 대중들의 관심을 받고 있지만 공연예술분야의 한 장르인 창작발레 공연은 다른 장르에 비추어 봤을 때 아직도 그 실정이 미흡하여 대중들에게 쉽게 다가가지 못 했기에 외국의 현대발레 안무가와 작품성향을 통하여 대중화를 이룰 수 있는 여러 가지 방안을 모색하는데 연구목적을 두었다. 오늘날 성행하고 있는 현대발레는 전통적인 클래식 발레의 기법과 주제를 탈피하여 현대의 복잡하고 다양한 현상을 반영하고 시대적 상황이나 소재를 이색적으로 변화시켜 그 나름의 장르 구분을 없애고 타 장르들을 혼합하여 총체적인 예술형태를 지향하는 발레로 거듭나 현 시대 대중들의 요구에 부응하고 있다. 그 대표적인 현대발레 안무가로 모리스베자르(Maurice Bejart)와 매튜본(Matthe Bourne)의 안무성향과 그들의 작품「1789...그리고 우리」,「백조의 호수」에 나타나는 특성을 통하여 우리의 창작발레가 나아가야 할 방향을 모색하고 대중들로부터 소외되고 있는 창작발레의 현 상황을 타계하여 대중화를 이룰 수 있는 방안을 제시하였다. 현대발레의 작품에 나타나는 성향은 작품 주제에 있어 사회의 전반적인 문제점들을 다루고 있으며 시대적 사상과 정치적 관점을 통하여 작품의 소재나 극 전반에 걸쳐 연극적 요소가 가미되어 있으며 특권층이 아닌 일반 대중들이 쉽게 이해 할 수 있고 작품에서 해학적 이미지를 통하여 관객들로 하여금 흥미를 유발 시켰다. 그들의 작품들로 인하여 무용공연장을 찾는 관객들이 늘어나 무용에 대한 대중들의 관심이 높아졌다. 또 예술성과 대중성을 모두 지닌 그들의 작품은 일반인들 뿐 아니라 같은 부류의 예술가, 그리고 평론가들까지도 매료 시켰다. 이 처럼 시대의 사회적 흐름과 공연예술 산업의 활성화에 발맞추기 위해서 우리의 창작발레는 대중화를 이루어야 할 것이다. 본 논문에서는 대중화를 이루기 위한 방안으로는 다음과 같이 몇 가지 방법을 제시하였다. 첫째, 대중성 확보를 위하여 춤의 기법을 발레의 한 장르만을 고집하지 않고 타 장르의 혼합을 통하여 참신하고 새로운 작품을 창작해 내야 한다. 둘째, 일반인들의 발레에 대한 인식의 전환으로 무용교육이 활발히 이루어져야 한다. 셋째, 아카데미나 문화센터 등 무용사설기관들을 통하여 일반인들의 참여가 직·간접 경험으로 확대 되어야 한다. 넷째, 우수한 창작발레 작품들을 레퍼토리 화 시키고 무용스타를 발굴하여 상품화시켜 매체를 통하여 대중들에게 널리 알려야 한다. 다섯째, 지방공연과 해외공연을 확대하여 그 영역을 넓혀 나가야 한다. 또 이러한 방법은 우리나라를 세계에 널리 알리는 효과를 얻을 수 있을 것이다. 여섯째, 전문인을 등용하여 기획, 홍보, 마케팅의 작업이 체계적으로 이루어져야 한다. 일곱째, TV, 신문, 방송, 인터넷 등 대중매체를 적극 활용해야 한다. 여덟째, 공공기관이나 민간기업 단체들의 재정적 지원이 활성화 되어야 한다. 이러한 방안들을 토대로 공연예술계에 침체 되었던 창작발레 공연을 활성화시키고 관객들을 기다리기만 했던 안일하고 소극적인 태도에서 벗어나 보다 적극적인 방법으로 대중과 함께 호흡하는 창작발레 공연이 이루어져야 할 것이다. 또 우리의 안무가들은 작품을 창작하는데 있어 자신의 생각만을 중요하게 여기지 말고 일반 관객들에 대한 배려를 하여 조금은 이해하기 쉽게 작품을 창작하고, 내용의 질적 향상과 관객 확대에 대하여 많은 관심을 기우려야 할 것이다. 본 논문은 창작발레가 대중들에게 한걸음 더 다가갈 수 있는 방법을 제시해 보았다. 이에 그치지 않고 꾸준한 연구가 이루어진다면 우리나라의 창작발레 뿐 만 아니라 전반적인 무용계의 발전에 크게 이바지하게 될 것이다.; The purpose of the study is to seek various ways for the popularization of modern ballet through the foreign choreographers and the tendencies of ballet works. These days performance arts have been changing according to the social request and trends of the era with novel ideas and a lot of ways and many are interested in them, but it is true that the performance of the newly created ballet as one genre of performance arts does not attract general audiences. The popular modern ballet which has escaped from the traditional and classic techniques and themes reflects the complex modern phenomena. In addition, it is responding to the requirements of the popular by way of being reborn; That is, it aims at a total art which uniquely deal with the modern phenomena into newly interpreted subject matters and mix other genres, doing away with distinguishing lines. The representative choreographers of the modern ballet are Maurice Bejart and Matthe Bourne. Through the analysis of the features appearing in their works "1789...and We" and "Swan Lake" the ways for popularization of the ballet will be suggested. The tendencies in the modern ballet are like this; In regard with the theme, the modern ballet treat the general social problems. And when it addresses the social thoughts or political viewpoints it adds theatrical factors across the general process of the performance. It also focuses on the public not the special class, and it provides interest to the audience by easy stories and humorous points. The works of Maurice Bejart and Matthe Bourne have gathered many people into the ballet theatres and they have attracted the other ballet artists and even the critics as well as the public because they show both virtuosity and popularity. Our created ballet also has to be popularized in accordance with the social trends and the activation of performance arts. This paper suggests several way for the popularizing of the ballet. Firstly, in order to find out popularity creative and new works should be created, whose dance techniques have to include not only the ballet dance but also other genres. Secondly, dance education should be given to the public for providing good image of the ballet. Thirdly, many persons have to have the chances to experience the ballet directly or indirectly through the private dance institutions including the so called Academic or Cultural Centers. Fourthly, the created supreme ballet works should be included in the repertory theatre works, so that ballet stars may emerge and they can be commercial stars through the popular media. Fifthly, the performances of both local provinces and foreign countries have to be positively pursued only to widen the ground of the ballet performance. This is also one way to introduce Korea all around the world. Sixthly, the system for planning, public relations, and marketing should be established, for which the experts should be employed. Seventhly, the popular media including broadcasting programmes, newspapers, and internet should be utilized as possible as it can. Eighthly, the financial support from both the public institutions and private companies should be encouraged. On the basis of theses ways, the persons of the ballet circle should discard the idle and passive attitudes. That means that they should not wait for audiences without any efforts. On the contrary they must seek positive ways to attract many persons to performances of the created ballet works. Moreover, it is also required that the choreographers more or less give up their own thoughts but consider the minds of the audience when they create the works. As a result more easy works can be produced and better works which positively give interests in the audience could gather more persons. In this paper, the methods for the created ballet works to approach more closely to the audience are suggested. Here it is expected that the steady and continuous studies of this theme would contribute to the development of the created the general dance world of our country as well as the created ballet circle.
