Abstract
Micro positioning, precision instrumentation, manufacturing and mechatronics area using piezoelectric actuators are increasing. However, since PZT operates with a short range, there is limit of application in structures that require a long range. Thus, this study focused on the design method that can make mechanical amplifier for long range. By design method process, First of all, goals of mechanical amplifier are stated item by item and items that this amplifier must necessarily be equipped with are explained. Hinge shape suitable for this amplifier is selected with consideration on the characteristics of flexure hinges, which are the core elements of amplifier. Overall shape is deduced during the concept design process. After selecting the amplification goal, length of lever and links, and parameters of flexure hinges during the detailed design process, output values are estimated through mathematical modeling. Obtained output values are compared with simulation results and then with experimental results to test appropriateness of the modeling. As result, error between theoretical analysis and simulation results is about 10%, and such an error seems to have resulted from the bending at links because all levers and links were assumed to be rigid bodies for the modeling.
