학령후기 아동의 어머니 애착과 아버지 애착 및 사회적 유능감의 관계

이 연구는 아동의 어머니 애착과 아버지 애착이 사회적 유능감에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고, 어머니 애착과 사회적 유능감의 관계에서 아버지 애착의 매개역할을 규명함으로써 어머니와 자녀 관계에서 중재자로서의 아버지 역할의 의미와 중요성을 제시하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 서울 및 대전에 위치한 초등학교 5, 6학년 아동 507명을 대상으로 아동의 어머니 애착, 아버지 애착 및 사회적 유능감 척도로 이루어진 설문조사를 실시하였다. 수집된 자료는 빈도분석, Pearson's 상관관계분석, 공분산 구조방정식분석(Structural Equation Modeling; SEM)을 사용하여 분석하였다. 이 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 측정 변수들의 상관분석 결과, 어머니 애착과 아버지 애착 및 사회적 유능감은 전체적으로 유의미한 상관관계를 나타내고 있어, 부모와 안정적인 애착을 형성할수록 사회적 유능감이 높음을 알 수 있다. 그러나 하위요인으로 어머니 애착의 소외감은 사회적 유능감의 주도성, 인기도와 유의한 관계가 나타나지 않았다. 둘째, 어머니 애착이 사회적 유능감에 미치는 영향을 살펴본 결과, 어머니 애착은 사회적 유능감의 대인적응성에 가장 큰 영향을 미치고 있으며, 다음으로 사교성, 인기도, 주도성, 사회참여도 순으로 나타났다. 하위요인에서 어머니 애착의 의사소통은 사회적 유능감의 모든 하위요인에 영향을 미치며, 사교성에 가장 큰 영향을 미치고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 아버지와의 애착이 사회적 유능감에 미치는 영향을 살펴본 결과, 아버지 애착은 사회적 유능감 중 주도성에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 아버지 애착의 의사소통은 사회적 유능감의 모든 하위영역에 영향을 미치며, 주도성에 미치는 영향이 가장 큰 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 어머니 애착이 아버지 애착에 미치는 영향을 살펴본 결과, 어머니 애착은 아버지 애착 중 의사소통에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 어머니 의사소통은 아버지 애착의 모든 하위영역에 영향을 미치고 있으며, 어머니와의 신뢰감과 소외감은 아버지와의 의사소통에 영향을 미치지 않았다. 다섯째, 어머니 애착은 아동의 사교성과 대인적응성, 사회참여도, 인기도에 더 큰 영향을 미치며, 아버지 애착은 주도성에 더 큰 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 사교성, 대인적응성, 사회참여도, 인기도에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 하위요인은 어머니와의 의사소통이며, 주도성에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 것은 아버지와의 의사소통인 것으로 나타났다. 여섯째, 부, 모 애착과 사회적 유능감의 구조방정식 분석 결과, 아버지 애착은 어머니 애착과 사회적 유능감 간의 관계를 매개하는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 따라서 어머니 애착은 사회적 유능감에 직접적인 영향도 미치고, 아버지 애착을 매개로 간접적인 영향도 미치는 것으로 나타났다.

이 연구는 아동의 부, 모 애착과 사회적 유능감의 관계를 살펴보고 어머니 애착과 사회적 유능감 관계에서 아버지 애착의 매개역할을 검증하여, 모자 관계에서 중재자로서의 아버지의 역할 및 중요성을 제시하고자 하였다. 아동의 부, 모 애착은 각각 사회적 유능감에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났고, 아버지 애착은 어머니 애착과 사회적 유능감의 관계에서 매개역할을 하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 이 연구의 제한점을 논의하고 후속 연구를 위한 제언을 하였다.

The relationship among attachment to mother, attachment to father, and social competence in late-school aged children

The purpose of this study contributed to a better understanding of the role of child attachment th father as a mediator on the relationship between child attachment to nother and child social competence. In order th identify the role of attachment to father as a mediator, it was necessary to analyze the effectiveness of the relationship between child attachment to both his or her parents and child social competence. Therefore five sub-concepts of child social competence were included: child's outgoing behavior, interpersonal adjustment, social participation, leadership and popularity. A total of 507 students in elementary school, either in the fifth or sixth grade participated in the study. The school in located in the Seoul and DeaJeon area in South Korea. For the purpose of analyses, the SPSS 16.0 and the Amos 16.0 software program was used. The frequencies, Pearson's corralation and Structural Equation Model were conducted to examine the results of the research questions. The findings of this study were as follows: Firstly, the relationship between child attachment to both his or her parents and child social competence showed significant. The child who had a more stable relationship with both his or her mother and father was more likely to have a higher level of social competence rather than the child who did not have a stable relationship. The alienation of child attachment th mother which was one of the sub-concepts of attachment to mother did not show a significant relationship on the child's social competence such as social initiative as mentioned above and popularity. The correlation between the child's attachment to the father and his or her social competence was also significantly related in the all sub-areas of social competence: outgoing behavior, interpersonal adjustment, social participation, leadership and popularity. Secondly, in the path analysis the child's interpersonal adjustment was the most effective variable of the relationship between attachment to mother and child social competence. The child attachment to mother had sequential effects on child's outgoing behavior, popularity, leadership and social participation. Specifically communication, the sub-concept of child attachment th mother, had a positive effect on all sub-areas of social competence. Thirdly, the child's leadership showed the most significant effect on the child's attachment to father when considering the relationship between attachment to father and child social competence. Communication, which was also one of the sub-concepts in attachment th father, also had an effect on all sub-areas of child social competence. Fourthly, communication as one of the sub-concepts in father attachment, showed the most powerful effect on child attachment to mother. The communication in child attachment to mother also had positive effect on all sub-areas of child attachment to father. However, the concept of trust and alienation with child attachment to mother did not show an effect on the communication in the attachment to the father. While the child attachment to mother had more effect on child's outgoing behavior, interpersonal adjustment, social participation and popularity, the child attachment to father had more effect on child's leadership. If the child's communication with mother more developed, the level of child's outgoing behavior, interpersonal adjustment, social participation and popularity might increased. The child's communication with father did show an effect on child's leadership. Finally, in conducting the Structural Equation Model in the relationship between child attachment to both parents and child social competence, child attachment to parents had a positive effect on child social competence and child attachment to mother, as well as a positive effect on child attachment to father. Therefore, attachment to father has a role in mediator between child's attachment to mother and child social competence. In summary, this study was investigating the importance of the role of father attachment as a mediator between child mother attachment and child social competence. Therefore, this study also included analyzing the effectiveness of the relationship between child attachment to both his or her parents and child competence. The limitations and suggestions for further study were addressed in this study.
