독립형 인터넷 신문과 종합일간지 뉴스 보도의 정보원 활용에 관한 연구

Abstract

2000년 첫 순수 인터넷 언론인 오마이뉴스의 창간을 시발로, 인터넷 신문은 이념적 스펙트럼이 다양해지면서 점차 늘어나고 있다. 온라인에서만 발행되는 인터넷 신문은 고유한 매체의 특성을 바탕으로 기존 언론과는 다른 독특한 뉴스 생산과 수용방식을 생산해냄에 따라, 인터넷 신문 보도의 특성은 무엇인지 알아보고 변화된 언론환경을 점검해보고자 하였다. 특히 뉴스의 내용은 사안과 관련된 다양한 정보원으로부터 제공받는 정보에 따라 중점적으로 결정됨에 따라 정보원의 활용 측면에서 인터넷 신문과 종합일간지 보도의 차이를 검토하였다. 본 연구의 연구문제는 “독자적으로 뉴스를 취재하는 독립형 인터넷 신문과 종합일간지 보도의 정보원 활용의 특성에 있어 어떠한 차이가 있는가?”이다. 이에 대한 본 연구 결과, 독립형 인터넷 신문은 기존 종합 일간지에 비해서 빈도상의 특성, 즉 평균적으로 많은 정보원을 인용하고, 다수의 정보원을 인용함으로써 정보원의 다양성을 보장할 수 있는 측면을 지니고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 정보원의 등장횟수가 많은 만큼 종합일간지에 비해 다양한 의견의 정보원을 인용하고 있는 것으로 확인되었다. 하지만 정보원의 유형상 특성을 살펴본 결과, 기존 종합일간지와 마찬가지로 언론사의 보도 태도와 비슷한 정보원을 가장 많이 인용해 기사의 편향성을 드러낼 가능성이 높은 것으로 나타났으며, 특히 특정 정보원의 의견을 여러 번 인용함으로써 편향성을 강화할 우려가 높은 것으로 확인되었다. 권위를 지닌 전문가를 정보원으로 선택하는 관습이 없고, 시민을 정보원으로 인용하는 비율이 높은 것은 기존 종합일간지와 구별되는 독립형 인터넷 신문의 특징으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 토대로 본 연구는 독립형 인터넷 신문에서 정보원의 활용을 실증적으로 분석하고 이를 기존 종합일간지와 비교함으로써, 지금까지 구체적인 연구가 드물었던 독립형 인터넷 신문의 보도특성에 대한 중요한 근거 자료를 제시하였다는 점에서 큰 의의를 갖는다.; Around the turn of the new millenium with the beginning of 'Ohmynews' the first Online Dailies, Online Dailies became wide-spread. As wide-spread Online Dailies make a lot of issues and unique point of view about social event. This study aims to explore what is the Online Dailies specific character, and look into changed Press in Korea. These days News show different view on same event as theirs various news sources. Based upon these observation, this study focused on the difference between Online Dailies and Offline Dailies that effected by various news source. The research found that Online Dailies use more news sources on average than Offline Dailies. Especially the news that used more than ten news sources are showed more frequently on Online Dailies than Offline Dailies. The result on the above shows passibility that Online Dailies have more diversity than Offline Dailies. As Online Dailies quote many news sources, Online Dailies show various opinion on same event to readers. On the other hand, Online Dailies tend to uses news sources that have similar opinion with Online Dailies. As Online Dailies used to use a special opinion repeatedly that means Online Dailies have strong possibility they can be ideologic dailies. Online Dailies tend not to use specialist like professor as a news sources that Offline Dailies used to use, on the other hand Online Dailies reflect citizen's opinion. As a result these study have greate meaning that show special character about Online Dailies that barely being before studied by comparing with Offline Dailies.
