- Polyvinyl amine (PVAm) hydrogel hollow particles were produced for encapsulating and investigating release behaviors of water-soluble material. Charged poly(styrenesulfonate) (PSS) and poly(dimethyldially ammonium chloride) (PDDA) were alternatively deposited on PVAm hollow particles through layer-by-layer (LbL) self-assembly. After loading Chromotrope 2R, the release from prepared particles in each deposition step was observed in a buffer solution of pH 7. The release rate decreased when PDDA was located on the interface of PVAm hollow particles. Also, the release rate decreased when the layer number increased due to the strong positive PDDA ions. These results indicate that PVAm hydrogel hollow particles could potentially be applied to achieve the prolonged release of water-soluble materials.
