ABSTRACT Wave Transformation over Axisymmetric Seabed using Eigenfunction Expansion Method Kim, Hyung-joon Master of Science in Civil Engineering Hanyang University, 2010 Advisor : Professor Cho, Yong-Sik Eigenfunction expansion method is one of the method which predicts wave transformation. It doesn't occur numerical error because it doesn't use numerical modeling. Also it has a strong point which can apply to various topography by comparison with other analytical methods. In this study, wave transformation over the three-dimensional axisymmetric seabed is calculated by using eigenfunction expansion method. The proper number of regions and evanescent modes are suggested for applying eigenfunction expansion method at various topograghy in each case of shallow water depth and intermediate water depth. Using this results, effect of evanescent modes on wave transformation is calculated. It is necessary to consider evanescent mode for accurate solution at intermediate water depth, while there are little effects at shallow water depth. The characteristic of multi-directional random waves are also confirmed by comparing with other waves.
