- Abstract
- Spherical and uniform platinum nanoparticles with sizes of 2-5 nm have been formed on TiO2 sphere particles by alcohol reduction method with PVP and exhibited very high photodegradation activity in the degradation of benzene. This method has three advantages; (ⅰ) first of all it gives the opportunity to prepare Pt-doped TiO2 composites with high monodispersity, (ⅱ) the platinum nanoparticles on the surface of TiO2 sphere particles is not aggregated and has uniform size, and (ⅲ) the loading rate of platinum nanoparticles was easily controlled by the amount of platinum feed solution.
X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis revealed that the Pt-doped TiO2 composites contained Ti, N and Pt. These results indicate that nanoparticles of platinum were formed on the surface of TiO2 sphere particles. X-ray diffraction (XRD) showed that Pt-doped TiO2 composites only displayed the characteristic diffraction peaks of a TiO2 anatase structure. Pt-doped TiO2 composites exhibited very high photodegradation activity in the degradation of benzene.
