Abstract
This thesis proposes a planar inverted-F antenna (PIFA) with an interdigital capacitor in its feeding loop for operation in the global system for mobile communication (GSM, 880-960 MHz), digital communication system (DCS, 1710-1880 MHz), personal communication system (PCS, 1850-1990 MHz), and universal mobile telecommunication system (UMTS, 1920-2170 MHz) bands. The poor radiation performance near the anti-resonance is improved by inserting the capacitor structure. Therefore, the return loss value at 2.03 GHz is enhanced from -2.73 dB to -6.26 dB, and it shows a broad bandwidth of 476 MHz (1714-2190 MHz) based on a return loss level below -6 dB.
