Abstract
Most of the commercially available synthesis methods for advanced materials required many additional elements, and always have to worry about environmental pollution and waste. In contrast, the nature has very effective synthesis methods and creates amazing products such as mineral without pollution and waste. So we try to mimic the natural principle for development of advanced materials. In this study, the hierarchical TiO2-CD nano-networks were successfully fabricated by natural principle and light induced self-assembly methods. Electron microscopy shows the resulting nano-networks are composed of TiO2 nanoparticle-cyclodextrin complexes assembled into 1nm diameter nanofibers with lengths more than 1 mm. The individual nanofibers are further interconnected into a highly porous, 3D macro-scale network. The hole scavenging effect, TiO2-CD aggregation and electric dipole in solution is investigated by pH, DLS and zeta potential measurement. In order to verify the bonding mechanism of nano-networks, FT-IR, XPS is measured by using dried sample. TGA and BET shows that the TiO2-CD nano-networks are consisted of approximately 70% of TiO2 and 30% of cyclodextrin and it has 42m2/g surface area.
