- Abstract
- Recent air pollution caused by fossil fuel use and resource depletion emerged as a serious social problem, paradigm shift in the vehicle from Engine-driven electric motor-driven systems, and securing environmentally friendly means of transportation are considered as important. This trend is not exception in rail vehicles. IPMSM is best suitable to meet the high torque, high power and high efficiency in whole driving range as a traction motor which is the main parts involved in the vehicle, but it has many difficulties in designing for the non-linear character of parameter using not only magnetic torque but also Reluctance torque.
In this study execute the design of concentrated winding type of IPMSM considering the character of traction motor of Korean Light Rail vehicle operating max 100 [Km/h] as the goal of 110kW IPMSM included in Korean Light Rail vehicle.
Concentrated winding IPMSM can have high power density than distributed winding IPMSM, and it is easy to make and the cost is cheap. But Magnet eddy current loss is generated for the wide slot pitch and much slot harmonics that makes to decrease efficiency. Designing satisfying that high efficient design increasing output characteristics and decreasing Magnet eddy current loss through optimum designing by design of experiment (DOE) And this study provides the method of high efficiency design by identifying the cause of Magnet eddy current loss and reducing the Magnet eddy current loss.
