Abstract
This thesis presents a design of the passivity-based control (PBC) for type 2 static synchronous compensator (STATCOM), which has only one control degree. The PBC controller, which consists of a desired control input and a new control input with the consideration of the performances of all state, is designed for robustness and simplification of controller design compared with input-output linearization (IOL) controller. The proposed PBC based on the Lyapunov theorem guarantees the exponential stability of equilibrium point of the system. Three different methodologies of PBC controllers are compared with each other. The proposed PBC controller’s the performance is compared with IOL controller’s with averaged model and topological model in MATLAB/Simulink. Simulation results show that the proposed PBC provides improvement of performances of DC side voltage and active current over IOL.
